The Poor Woman's Guide to an at Home Spa
68Sugar Honey Hair Waxing
Hey, we need a break too.
1st of all if you wash your hair on a daily basis use a gentle mild shampoo, such as a baby shampoo, it doesn't matter what brand, if you read the ingredients they're all about the same.
2nd Pull you hair back. If you have long hair and have to put it in a ponytail use an elastic band not a rubber band. Rubber bands break your hair and cause split ends.
3rd Wash your face with a mild soap then pat it dry. Use witch hazel, or lemon juice, as a toner. Lemon juice will fade freckling.
4th Use an egg white or mayonaise for a facial mask. Let it dry completely then gently rub it off with your finger tips. Wash your face with a mild soap and water then apply toner.
5th Use a pumice stone or pedegg on the dry spots of your feet.
6th Use corn huskers lotion any where that you have dry skin, it's the best exfoliater I've ever found, and very in expensive.
7th Relax in the tub with your favorite bath products. A good thing to do is to add used coffee grounds to your body wash. Caffine heals sun damage, and the grounds also work as an exfolient.
8th Shower off and rinse out the tub.
9th Pat yourself dry do not rub.
10th Apply lotion just about any kind will do. Do not apply around your eyes, Use peel and stick eyebrow tapes to "wax" your eye brows. Keeping your eyebrows done keeps 10 years off of your face. It's like an instant face lift.
11th If your hair needs an oil treatment use warmed olive oil on clean, damp, to dry, hair. Cover with a shower cap and wrap a towel around it to keep it warm. Let it sit for 1/2 an hour then shampoo a couple of times. Rinse with black tea to darken your hair, or chamomile tea to bring out highlights in your hair.
12th While your hair is getting it's oil treatment massage the cuticles around your fingernails and toe nails with olive oil. when they're softened push the cuticles back. and trim or file your nails. Wash your feet and hands thouroghly and apply hoof polish to your nails. Hoof polish costs a little much but a small jar will last a very long time. You can get it at any farm goods store.
13th If you must use a bath powder use corn starch it works as well and won't harm your skin. Besides if you've ever seen talc under a microscope it looks like glass shales.
14th If you need a chemical peel but can't afford one, I've found that Amlactin Lotion works well over time, it's a little expensive but worth it. My Mom who's blind had all sorts of "permanent bruises" and dents and dings on her shins after applying Amlactin Lotion every night for a month she had the legs of a twenty year old, and she's 69! One word of warning though it smells awful! Be sure to shower or bathe thoroughly in the morning even if it's just to get rid of that terrible smell.
14th I've found that Rembrant tooth paste is the best at whitening teeth, also a little more expensive than regular whitening toothpastes, but you just need to use it every once in awhile, and it's cheaper than going to the dentists for a tooth bleaching. Remember the whiter your teeth the younger you look.
15th If you have stubborn acne put a small dab of tooth paste on each pimple before you go to bed it will work to absorb what ever is in there. Peel the dried tooth paste off before you wash your face. It may take a couple three nights though.
16th When your hair is dry always brush, or comb, the ends first slowly brushing, or combing, a little higher up the hair. That way you won't get as many split ends.
16th If the soles of your feet, or your hands, dry easily make a creme of half petrolium jelly and half Crisco brand vegetable shortening (it has to be Crisco, and no I don't know why) Mix thoroughly and massage your feet or hands and cover with cotton socks or gloves. Leave on over night and wash thoroughly the next morning. They should be nice and smooth if not repeat the process the next night.
17th Always, always, always use a sunblock.
18th Last but not least for younger looking skin don't forget to drink your 8 glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated. It helps keep the extra weight off too.
Keep up your beauty routine and you'll look like a million bucks. Your friends will wonder how you can afford it, then you can tell them how.
