The Power of Change

Life brings so many opportunities to learn, to detach, to improve, to balance. Because we often become so busy with our daily affairs, we tend to identify more with what we have to do, rather than with what we really want to do.

As a Life Coach, I see many who choose to live a rather robotic life. There seems to be a popular trend to resign oneself to a monotonous existence. Just ask someone what have they been up to lately? Listen to the answers given. Are the answers different each time, or are they predictable? Are Your anwers different, or usually the same?

At the end of the day, most people who live a predictable life, often feel unfulfilled, frustrated, and sometimes, even angry. A common response is, "there just isn't enough time for what I really want to do."

So how can we change the state we may resign ourselves to be in? First, by reading this article, hopefully you will take the time to identify where you are at. Once you are aware of your state of thinking and doing, you can adjust your actions according to your "authentic" needs. Authentic needs are your honest, true feelings, based on what would be best for your well-being.

Steps to Change

By following the steps below, you are transforming Thoughts into Actions.

1- Identify Your State of Existence in the present moment. Are your Commitments in Balance with what you really want in life?

2- Create a Plan of Options that supports a sense of Flexibility and Adventure. Include a Variety of choices for future use.

3- Take Action by following your Plan. Leave room for some Alternatives that may pop up in the moment.

4- Review how Effective your Changes are, by acknowledging your Feelings, your Energy and Fulfillment levels.

5- Adjustments are healthy, as you live each day with clearer Intentions. Become Comfortable with new possibilities.

Alternative Ways to Challenge the Ego

Create ways to Train your Ego to be flexible. The process of osmosis is presented in the movie, The Karate Kid. The teacher shares wisdom through simple actions, such as Wax On, Wax Off.

The Ego prefers to feel safe and in control. Make a List of ritualistic habits that you can play with. Observe how much you are attached to some of your daily patterns, when you begin to intentionally shift the old to the new.

Here are some examples:

1- For instance, you may always wake up quickly in the morning. The new way: lay in bed and think of how grateful you are for....

2- If you usually eat the same meal each morning, change it up with some different items.

3- Take a different route to work, school, etc. several times a week. Life is never limiting unless we perceive it as such.

4- Take a shower in the daytime, just to refresh yourself.

5- Whenever you see a mirror, look into it and say some kind words to yourself.

And the list can go on and on.

By changing the little things in your daily experiences, you will naturally transfer this approach to all areas of your life. The ego may eventually enjoy the process, with less and less resistance.

Conclusion

Change is an important part of Loving Yourself. Without change, we would not grow. Nature is a prime example of this concept. Trees change with the seasons. If we closely observe a tree, we can observe subtle transformations taking place daily.

Humans also naturally evolve each day. Our cells are sloughed off with every shower we take, allowing new growth to take place. Why not use this visual as an example for the internal potentials? By letting go of what is no longer needed, we can create quite an exciting life.

It's worth the efforts to stretch your comfort zones. Be Creative and Adventurous each day. Like a blank canvas ready to be drawn upon, you can add fulfillment to your life, if you so choose to

You are not a slave to time, or to the "shoulds" in life. You are a Creator of what is Important to you. If you are not happy with the results you now live, maybe it's time to practice the Power of Change!

You have explained this hub very well ...I am always looking for ways to change my life for the better. Most people don't like change but if they get a rude awakening then their situations do change whether they like it or not. Adaptability proves helpful at any given time.
