The Pro Bowl Shouldn't Be Retired
49
Is the Pro Bowl worth keeping around? That is a good question and it does depend on your point of view on whether you watch it or not. Honestly, it comes down to one big factor; the other leagues don’t get rid of the all-star game so why would the NFL do that? Maybe the scheduling is a bit off with it happening right after the Super Bowl but it has always been that way.
Next season it is probably going to be the week before in Miami and not in Hawaii anymore. That however is one tradition that should not be touched. If you want it sooner, then here is an idea that could be considered worth trying. Since the NFL schedule is right now at 17 weeks, why not have Week 9 of the league have no teams play and have the Pro Bowl there? Just something to experiment but also keeps it in where it is supposed to be.
People probably still watch it but it’s a matter of whom you ask on that. I will on occasion watch it if it interests me in the first place. Then again, I can only speak on my own behalf on this one. Looking at it even further, perhaps a rookie game for the rookies playing that did the best as something to consider if not in the regular pro bowl game. Yes, there is a chance of injury but there is always a chance when it comes to playing football.
In short, it may not be necessary to retire it but if you don’t want it at the last game of the entire football season until the following year, maybe move it to the middle of the year. Have every team take that week off to relax a bit and then resume play the following week. It may sound crazy but it could work if done properly.
I hope this answers the question as this was the best I could think of honestly.

Thanks alot for the answer. I'm not a big fan of the new idea to have it the week before the Superbowl. I actually do like your idea to move it to the offseason.
