Genital Herpes is the most common STD disease spread all over the world. This disease is highly infectious and is transmitted to others during sexual activities. Genital Herpes generally causes blisters in the genital area of both men and women. They are highly contagious and are a form of herpes. Once infected with this virus, have to carry it for lifelong and genital herpes cannot be cured but the infection can be treated and reduced with proper herpes treatment and medicines.


Genital Herpes is generally caused by Herpes Simplex Virus and it has two forms, which is Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1(HSV 1) or Herpes Simplex Virus Type-2(HSV 2). Genital herpes is caused by both the virus but mostly caused by the HSV 2 virus. However, anybody can contract genital herpes with HSV 1 through oral sex and can also be contracted by kissing. Genital herpes can be spread through skin to skin contact, direct contact with infected area, sexual intercourse, oral sex, kissing.


Many people may be infected with genital herpes but symptoms may not show up. Genital Herpes can also be transmitted from one person to another even when their genital herpes is inactive and the sores are invisible. This has lead to spread the disease among others, carrier of genital herpes transmit it to others unknowingly.


Usually, signs of genital herpes are seen within three to seven days. For some people the blisters are painless and for some they painful. The Genital Herpes blisters or sores or lesions develop in and out, anywhere in the genital area of both men and women. For women they may also occur inside the vagina, which are not visible but doctors can get them after examining the area. Since genital herpes is highly contagious so it is highly recommended to have protected sex.
