Prolapsed Hemorroids
65Surely, one can find not a lot of such uncomfortable and embarrassing things like hemorrhoids, especially prolapsed hemorroids. The reason is that prolapsed hemorrhoids stick outside the body (however it is not as painful as other types of hemorrhoids).
In most cases hemorrhoids are not so easy to treat as they are located in the anus. One can notice it when making a bowel movement, and sometimes it can even stick out during the movement and then retract. If it doesn't retract a person needs to push it back into the anus by his own. If the prolapsed hemorroid remains inside the anus for a long time, it can become strangulated, and if it’s your case, you have to call a doctor, as it’s very painful to live with this.
A hemorrhoid can prolapse in several ways (it influences the level of discomfort the hemorrhoid causes):
- It can stay outside and not retract inside the body.
- It can stay outside and retract naturally after the bowel movement.
- It can be manually pushed back.
Hemorrhoid Symptoms
If after a bowel movement you feel your anus itchy (even after you’ve wiped it) or feel pain there, you may have a hemorrhoid. Another symptom is blood in the feces or on the paper you wipe your anus with. However in most cases there’s little to worry about until you feel pain. If you do, consult with your doctor and he will help you to get rid of it and prescribe special medicine for treatment.
Prolapsed Hemorroids Treatment
Prolapsed hemorrhoid can be treated in different ways. Often you just need to push it back into the anus. A warm sitz bath (a special medical bath which resembles a toilet seat) will help to start the healing process and ease the possible pain. You can also try Vaseline or Preparation-H (a medicine which is specially designed to reduce the size of hemorrhoids and ease itching and pain).
If the pain is not severe, you can try suppositories which are also a good way of treatment. There are also special towelettes to clean the anus and they act much like creams. Anyway you should consult your doctor before taking any medicine.
