LondonGirl, I wonder how successful these 500 calorie diets are. I have never ventured less than 1,200 daily because I think any lesser calorie count would be unhealthy. What does it entail?
I've not done it myself, they are only recommended if you are 3 stone or more overweight. They work very well, though, and (under medical supervision) are a pretty good idea.
They involve 3-4 milkshakes / soups a day, which contain protein, vitamins, and minerals.
I had a mate who was seriously large - about 20 stone (280lb) and only 5 ft 5, so she was vast. She lost 10 stone in a year and 2 months, 3 years ago, and is still slim.
Good for your friend, Londongirl, who have kept the weight off.

Yes, it's often easier to shed it than keep it off, I think! She went down to 10 stone, half her initial weight, and in 3 years has gained at most half a stone back.
