Selecting a car audio head unit for your car is very important. It is where the sound comes from and if the sound is not good to start with you cannot make it better no matter how good your amps and speakers are.

Some of the most popular brands are: Alpine, Power Acoustik, Pioneer, Kenwood, Jensen, Lanzar, and Legacy. Many of these brands are entry level and depending on your budget may be the best you can afford.

Figure out what your budget is and buy the best car audio head unit you can afford.

Some of the most important things to look for when selecting a car audio head unit is.

  • What media does it play? Mp3's, cd's, dvd's, tv, fm and am?
  • How much power does it have? 50 watts x 4 is very good, but look at RMS power
  • How many outputs does it have? If you plan to hookup amps, you need preouts
  • Signal to Noise Ratio- The higher the better, look for something over 85db
  • Reviews- Have any other car audio ninjas used it and what did they think?

If you stick with these easy to follow tips you should be able to find a great car audio head unit for a great wholesale price.
