The Pursuit of the Almighty Dollar
Money is a major motivational goal for most people; we all strive to have a comfortable life without worrying where the next meal is going to come from. We all want to own a nice house and drive a nice car and have the finances to put the kids through college, early retirement and a foreign vacation or 2 every year.
Life's little luxuries come at a price and to be able to afford the good things in life is a dream come true for most people.
Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to worry about those monthly bills, the overdraught, the rent, the electricity, gas or phone bills wouldn't it be wonderful if we could walk into that store and buy that item we have pined for since we first saw it in the window, wouldn't it be fantastic if we didn't have to scrimp and save to afford clothes for the kids or to get through Christmas and not keep paying for it until next Christmas.
Having enough money to lead a comfortable life is a dream most of us share and with today's rapid rising of the cost of living that dream is becoming more and more difficult to attain.

Get Rich Quick
The internet is a breeding ground for get rich quick schemes, with blatant promises of riches and quick success "I made over a Million Dollars While I was sleeping and it only took 5 minutes of my time" or " My Ebook will show you how to make a million dollars in 30 days" scammers are everywhere and they are always so kind to offer you product re-sale rights for a few extra Dollars, if their promise was truthful in the first place and you could make all of the money that they were promising, then Why on earth would you need to sell the product to other people?.
Email Scams every day I go into my email and every day there is at least one claim that I have won a lottery, that I have never heard of nevermind entered, or I have won a prize draw that I never entered, or someones rich uncle has died and they want to transfer money into my bank account before the Government of the country they live in gets their hands on it.
All of these schemes work on the belief that people are blinded by the lure of big money and if only one person in every million emails they send out responds they will have suceeded in their quest, the poor person who responds to these scam emails ends up losing their life savings because they gave the scammers just what the wanted, their personal banking details.

Riches Beyond Your Wildest Dreams
It isn't only the internet that offers pyramid scams or false lottery winnings, it also happens in real life, the mailman delivers innocent looking letters that could end up costing you your entire life savings.
One of the most recent scam snail mail letters is from a supposed Phsycic lady in Sweden who claims to be able to give you luck and fortune for a rather large fee she claims that famous celebrities are her regular clients and that she was solely responsible for their climb to fame.
If you have a dollar in your pocket there is someone out there who wants it and will go to great lengths to convince you to give it to them.
Stay away from the get rich quick schemes, beware those innocent looking emails and letters through your door, it will save you a lot of money in the long run.
by all means purchase your dream lottery ticket from an approved outlet the odds are low but there is a slim chance that you will win and it is fun to take part.

I especially like the photo of the treasure chest.
Well done. This is great advice for everyone. It's amazing how many scams you find on the internet.
The treasure chest is just like the ones that the shoe stores in Ohio had in the 1960s. If your parents bought shoes for you, you were able to pick a trinket from the treasure chest. This was when kids could still look at their foot bones through a flourescope machine in the store.
Here's another goofy thing - our "dollar stores" carry money-attracting scented sprays for the home. lol
Ohgosh Patty-- I remember those machines in shoestores LOL and thanks Jimmy. I guess I better stop waiting for Publisher's Clearing House to show up at my front door,eh?
Do you think I should help the nice Nigerian Prince who emailed me the other day????? It would be an easy million dollars for me.( yeah, sure) LOL
like P.T. Barnum said--there's a sucker born every minute. Had such fun reading this but it is chock full of good information too. Nice job Jimmy.
Great hub Jimmy and you certainly get the message over that we need to be wary both online and offline of the scams that have been with us since we started using money!
Take care
Paul
Great hub as already said full of warnings about scams. Yes we would all love that extra money. I am trying with hubs to earn a little more.
BUT.... I am a firm believer that money really does not bring happiness. YES I know I just said I want more BUT. All I really wish for is for mine and my families Health and Happiness. That is the be all end all without it we are truly stuffed. excuse that word but it is true. Thanks again Jimmy
Great Hub
If you want something, you have to work for it.

Great Hub,
I do believe that making money online is possible and that people really have made the money to back up most claims....Will it work for everyone....probably not. Their is no magic pill there is no quick fix...but just like here on HubPages if you follow the successful you will just naturally become successful. After shelling out over $1,500 to one program which made me $0 of their promised full time income....I decided never again would I leave someone who really trusted me out of the game and feeling like I did....Why lump everyone together? I don't really need the money, but I like the feeling it gives me when I help someone else to find it....I am sure you would make more off a make money hub, a wellness hub, or a sex hub.....Why...we all really would like to be Young, Sexy, And Rich..ha ha...Thanks again Jimmy
I've come to believe that it's going to be very difficult for me to get to "rich." Being poor takes all my time.
Great hub -- and buyer beware!!! trust seldom
great hub!
Really enjoyed reading it...
Great tips, Jimmy! There is no road to riches without a whole lot of steps to reach the end! Without hard work, the riches gain ground and outrun you quickly lol. Many of the "get rich quick" schemes should be called "get broke quick" once they take all your money and run!
Bonnie
So True, and with an economy that is pushing people to look harder for the Almighty Dollar (is it really anymore?) then the internet will be filling up with these sleazy spammers and get rich quick schemers. Most of us ignore them, but appartently not all us.. Good post!!
As more and more people come online to start internet businesses I'm afriad that they will get caught up in the many scams that are out there, the internet reminds me of the wild wild west as it is right now.Watch out for those snake oil salesman.Keep the good info. coming.
Great hub!
I guess too much money must be a hardship too...a curse...someone please curse me with it already...of course just for research sake...
Jimmy great hub, thanks for sharing all this information. The sooner one realises that there is no such thing as getting rich without working for it the better.
regards Zsuzsy
Great Hub Jimmy! Each of the scams you describe have happened to me and my dearly beloved. As I keep telling her, if a so called legal firm or lotto outlet has a Hotmail or Gmail address beware. Phishing is another problem, fake bank sites asking to confirm your logon and passsword. No bank will ask for that either on-line or over the Phone. Another area that scamsters pick you up is on social networking sites. On Yuwie I got some fanmail, a picture of a pretty girl and then the sob story. I am in a refugee camp in Darfur, may father was the minister of finance with money etc .. you know the story!
There are no free lunches, you reap what you sow.

Great lesson here. Goes along with my favorite saying: "The greatest shortcut in life is to realize that there are no shortcuts"
