How to get your brain into Alpha State

This meditation technique can be used on its own or as a way to relax and get yourself into the correct state of mind for using your imagination to create reality. I find it a great way to silence the worries of the day and fall asleep. For those who have trouble falling asleep at night I definitely recommend this technique for you.

The Rainbow Technique combines "newage laws" and "medical theory" into one useful technique even for those with no spiritual inclinations. Its has been scientifically proven to lower your heart, respiration and brain frequencies. One of the most common teachings of new age theory is the need to lower your brains operating frequencies into what's called the "alpha state". When you are in the alpha state it is said "you are connected to the universe...or to God and have access to limitless power. This power is the source of all things in your life.

The technique essentially consists of visualizing the colours of the rainbow from violet to red. Once you've reached red you can either go to sleep, repeat the process, or continue on with your "mindwork".

The Technique can be done many ways. Visualize a staircase of coloured steps. Up or Down. Imagine swimming or diving trough layers of coloured water. Imagine your body is a light bulb changing from violet through red. Feel a coloured wind blowing on you. Jump from coloured cushion to coloured cushion. Whatever feels best for you.

Here is how I do it:

  1. Sit or lay down and relax yourself. You can go through all those "tense and relax each muscle one at a time if you like doing that. Just get relaxed.
  2. Take three long deep breaths in and out.
  3. Think VIOLET. Walk down the red step taking a nice deep breath until you feel all the red molecules inside you are glowing pure red. Feel the purity of the VIOLETpush out and cleanse all the VIOLET stuff inside you. Light up your VIOLET root chakra. Just BE RED.
  4. Repeat for INDIGO (DEEP BLUE).
  5. Repeat for SKY BLUE.
  6. Repeat for GREEN.
  7. Repeat for YELLOW.
  8. Repeat for ORANGE.
  9. Repeat for RED.

The act of visualizing these colours like this does two things. For the logical mind: Visualizing the progression of colours entrains and lowers the overall frequency of brain activity. For the Metaphysical mind: This opens and clears all your major chakras.

At this point in time you may have already fallen asleep.

To continue I find myself at the bottom of the coloured stairs in front of a door simlar to the doorway to Moria in Lord of the Rings. Beside it rests an open box like a an ancient Egyptian grave. I imagine placing all my worries and troubles into the box then slam the heavy stone lid down. Now completely without worry, I open the door and step into an incredible place of beauty filled with faeries and brownies who all scream "Yaaaaay!" whenever I enter. One of the details in my happy place is a magical throne upon which I sit when I want to create or remove things from my physical world.
