The Real Truth- I Accept Your Challenge Edition
57The Gauntlet
Well not quite a gauntlet. But Cris A has challenged everyone in our little HubPages community to be inspired. Ha. Imagine that, Cris being inspirational. Anyway he has posted a Hub issuing a challenge that he urges us to accept. You can read it here. Anyway this is my first thought at seeing one of the photos and I ran with it. Mind you I stole the idea from an episode of the Critic and completed it in 30 minutes or so. So...read it up!
The Dead Balloon
The Red Balloon
Becomes the dead balloon witha relentless lead salad. No dressing. The streets continued as if nothing happened. Tears well up in a little girl in a red dress as the dead balloon falls to the earth. A man passes by and turns his cheek. A woman passes by and can't help but laugh. The city breathes on as if nothing happened. The dead balloon gets caught up in a gust of wind and lands on a passing car. The little girl walks away, her eyes now red from crying. Somewhere in the city a light is red. Somewhere in the city a girl giggles. The dead balloon sits on the fender of a car, hoping to be let go. Hoping to be at some sort of final ease. The breeze blows as if nothing happened. The gun has been forgotten. The gunman never found. The girl bought a new red balloon. The dead balloon isn't lonely, but has nothing left. The dead balloon has given up. The dead ballon has wound up in a gutter, clinging to what's left in life. The buildings continue standing as if nothing ever happened. Nothing ever did.

Thank you kindly! Like I said the balloon made me think of that episode of the critic and it kind of wrote itself from there.

This could be made into a 20-minute feature film. You have some seriuos case of talent and imagination. Great storytelling. The dead balloon is anybody's life. Could be mine. Could be me.
Awesome. Did you ever see the French short or read the book "The Red Balloon"? It was, for some reason, a favorite of mine as a child. I bought the book too. It's wonderful. Anywhoo. My favorite part in this story is, "The dead ballon has wound up in a gutter, clinging to what's left in life." That's such an excellent description! Chris is right, it could be turned into a 20-min. feature film. Great job.
Now, this is great. I am with Frieda, the ending was superb! You have done a fabulous job in capturing this image. Great style to this one my friend, Ovations!
