The Real Addictions of Smoking
46Nicotine and the Dreaded Hand-To-Mouth
I am so jealous of those people who can use the patch, the gum, or even quit cold turkey. Because I can't. My biggest jealousy are those who can smoke a pack one night, and then none for six months. I have tried all above methods on more than one occassion each and always go back to the dreaded habbit.
Sure, with the patch and the gum, you eventually take care of the need for nicotine. But what about "the other" addictions that come with smoking. For instance, the hand-to-mouth action of smoking. You can bite your nails and stuff your face, but this addiction does not go away. Your house might be spotless and your backside five pounds heavier, but you are jittery and constantly on the move.
The nicotine and the hand-to-mouth addictions are the two real addictions of smoking. This time I am trying something different: The Electronic Cigarette.
The Electronic Cigarette
Let's start at the beginning...
What the electronic cigarette does has is this small little cartridge filled with nicotine. When it is placed into the atomizer, with the electricity from the battery, the nicotine becomes a vapor. This vapor can be felt going down and can be seen coming out. It smells of nothing and dissipates immediately.
So how do you get started?
Step 1:
After removing the unit from the box and charging the unit on the provided charger. To Charge: Hold the filter and hold the shaft and twist. It will come unscrewed. Then screw the shaft end into the charger. Once charged, put unit back together in reverse order. Easy.
Step 2:
Loading the nicotine. Gently pull the filter. This will expose an area similar to that of an ink barrell in a pen. Take your nicotine cartridge out of it's package and container, pop the small cover off of the nicotine cartridge and then place spongy side down. Push your filter back on and take a drag.

So What's Next?
So next, I slowly work myself off of the cigarettes. Some days are better than others, but I have cut down from 1/2 a pack or more a day to about 2-4 smokes. And that is over a four day period.
Why buy cigarettes when you could buy an e-cigarette? I am a huge proponent for quitting smoking. My husband does sell these and I will say, his customer service is outstanding. But I am biased.
