The Red Book of Secrets
64The Red Book of Secrets
This red book brings back memories. I keep it on my shelf with my hundreds of other books as it represents a starting point.
I do not know how long you have been around the internet, but if it has been even a few years I am sure you have seen a lot of change.
I started a full time internet business in 1995. At that time I did not even have my own website, only an email list.
However, the day came when I really needed a website to post pictures of my products I was selling via email, and also to post the stories I was writing so people could read them anytime they chose.
I created my first website 7/23/1996.
Now, as you can guess, I knew nothing about building or hosting a website at that time. So a "friend" of mine offered to host the domain name for the website for a mere $100.00 per month.
And actually, at the time, that was not too bad of a deal. So I took his offer.
$100.00 per month, and this did not include any other type of service. No prebuilt pages, no software to build it, (that type of software did not exist yet), no email addresses except the one by default, which was not a very good choice.
Next I had to figure out how to get the website onto the server that was hosting my domain name, which meant I needed someone that knew how to build HTML.
The best offer I could get at the time was to have 1 page of simple HTML built for $2,500.00 Now, at this point I reached a price threshold. It was one thing to pay $100.00 per month to have my website hosted, but quite another to pay $2,500.00 for every page I wanted to have built. I knew I was going to need many pages.
I wanted a Cappuccino anyway, so off I went to the book store to see if there was anything I could read on how to build my own website.
Sipping my hot Cappuccino and browsing thru the books about internet, quite sparse at the time, I found a thick red book on HTML 4.0. It held the secrets I needed.
Thumbing through it, I knew I found what I needed, purchased it, and took it to the park.
I sat on a bench finishing my hot beverage and reading the book. It did not seem that hard to do. Why were people charging $2,500.00 to build a simple page of HTML?
Within 3 and 1/2 hours I had built my first web page. Ha!! I saved a ton of money!
Since then, I have had to learn CGI, PHP, some java, mysql database integration with php, and quite a few other bits of info to build the websites I wanted.
Along the way, I put my extensive sales experience into testing my website as to which got the best results for the products or services I was selling.
Since I started building websites, I have sold over 3 million dollars worth of products and services on the internet. That does not include the sales of affiliate programs. Considering the percentage I made over the years, I had to have sold another 10 million dollars worth of products and services. So I did figure out a thing or two on how to build a website that makes sales.
For example, what is now called a "lead capture page" or "landing page" at one time was simply websites we would build to ask for someones name and email address so we could add them to a follow up list.
But if you are going to do marketing on the internet you need to have a "lead capture page." This is one page that gives some "teaser" information about your product or service. The visitor must input their name and email address to continue to get the "complete story."
The reason for this is that at least 90% of the sales you make do not come on the first time a person comes to your website, or even the first email that you send them.
You must develop over time a relationship. This is accomplished with regular email followups with quality information your prospect wants that allows them to build trust in you and your company.
To build a lead capture page here are the things you need to know to do it yourself from scratch:
1. How to create graphics.
2. How to build HTML.
3. How to use PHP.
4. How to use mysql databases.
5. How to get the HTML in the PHP to interact with your mysql database.
5. Email code for sending out confirmation emails.
6. Your own FTP program.
7. Last, but certainly not least, you must design the website so that it actually entices people to sign up for your mailing list and continue to read more about your offer. This requires a lot of sales ability and testing.
You can do that right?
Guess what you do not need to. I am going to do this for you.
But we are not finished yet. We still have to tell you what must be done to create the complete sales page that the landing page delivers to your prospect.
But lets cover that one in the next letter.
For now, feel safe in that all this technology I am giving you to build your own GDI downline at no cost to you.
Why? Well heck, I make $1 per month on every GDI member that purchases their own $10 per month website just as you do. On a future letter I will explain why that is such a bargain also.
Take advantage of all this technology available for you now. I spent the time to create all this. I am not charging you for it. If I were to charge you what was fair for this, if it was a custom one time piece, I would have to charge you $5,000.00 for just the technology. Much more for the sales copy and layout.
But, I am not.
If you are an Avalanche member already go log in and get started now. Your "lead capture" or "landing page" are in your admin area ready to use.
