Donnie Darko Fan
If you are reading this page and are a fan of the cult film Donnie Darko and you were left feeling empty by the DVD release of S. Darko or Samantha Darko because of huge plot holes and unrelated hoop-la then I hope you will enjoy what I have to say here. I couldn't believe they made a sequel to Donnie Darko, I thought... "Oh god don't let them mess up the story!" and what would ya know, they did.
Plot Holes in S. Darko
Okay, first off I just need to point out to anyone that actually watched Donnie Darko and who even paid attention to the film had to see that the biggest hole in S. Darko is continuity, because Donnie Darko died as the jet engine fell from the hole torn between his world and the tangent universe in the past before he ever met Frank or Gretchen and hence never met them, never saw Frank and never had the book written by Roberta Sparrow (Grandma Death) that was given to him by Mr. Monnitoff the science teacher. After Donnie realizes he is already dead and that he has to complete the events that are unfolding so the original time line can finish it's course and reset the balance of the universe so that tangent universe can collapse, he dies and the world is back to normal. But here was the kicker for me, Samantha Darko some how has the book! The book that never made it into her brothers hands. Not only that but some how Iraq Jack has visions of Frank the manipulated dead person that was only related to Donnie in the first movie! Frank and Gretchen were there to help Donnie complete the events that would save the universe from collapse. Then we learn that Samantha Darko was adopted by Donnie's parents? This was never even alluded to in the first film at all. They killed the story, I tried to get past the fact that they didn't follow the story like they should have, but then having the meteor storm at the end with that creepy nerd guy that was (changing)... I mean COME ON! This just blew it all for me. By the end of the movie I was about ready to just throw in the towel on the entire thing.

Redemption
So in my anger I went back to look at the story of Donnie Darko again and I saw something that could redeme my favorite movie... Grandma Death or Roberta Sparrow. In truth without Roberta Sparrow, Donnie wouldn't have been able to make the connections he made with the cord path that he called God's Channel to Mr. Monnitoff. Reading the book gave him insight on what he had to do. She was there everyday at the mail box waiting for him to come because she knew that one day he'd be there, that she was just as key to the story as Donnie in the fact that Frank wouldn't have hit Gretchen if she'd not been in the road, that Donnie had to face his fear of being and dying alone. Roberta Sparrow's story is only hinted at in Donnie Darko.
So what happened to Roberta Sparrow in October of 1944 that made her write the book and join the convent at Saint John Alexandria Virginia. What were the events that she had witnessed or been able to see to write the book and then stay around in Middlesex NJ. This could be the prequel movie that would redeme my favorite science fiction film. I for one would love to see it. I would really like peoples thoughts on this if they are Donnie Darko fans.
Thanks!

I love it. I wondered about her too.
