NBA Dimedrop: What Would Kobe Do?
With just days before the NBA Tips off, the biggest story that circulating around the league is Kobe Bryant's destination. He has publicly asked for it and even named teams he would likely want to play for. The Chicago Bulls and the Dallas Mavericks appears to be his favorite spot to land in, but unfortunately for him Dallas won't going to give up Dirk Nowitzki and Owner Mark Cuban appears to be uninterested in the buzz that KB24 wants to be a Maverick. It will cost the Mavericks to lost a few key components of their chemistry-rich squad, plus do you really think a Dirk and Kobe tandem would work? Yeah, not really a fan of that.
So the one city the Mamba sees is Chicago, why? What you mean why? Micheal Jordan used to play there remember? Arguably the best player who have ever laced his Nikes on. Plus they are an up and coming squad with a lot of energy and young bloods who can light it up. They got Ben Gordon(Not sure if he will sign an extension though), Loul Deng(A likely Pippen to Kobe's Jordan) and Kirk Hinrich (Can you say Captain Kirk?), I'm not finished yet though they got defensive fossil big Ben Wallace, high flying combo forward Tyrus Thomas, all-around Swiss guard Thabo Sefolosha (He did sort of shut down KB24 last season) and Argentinian bruiser Andres Nocioni. So it'll be a nice team to lead with all those guys right? But if KB24 wants to be in a Bulls uniform some of them (Or in this case most of them) will have to move in order to make a trade legally work. Dilemma for Kobe right? If he'll go to Chicago the trade would cost either one of Loul or Ben or Kirk + Fillers etc. maybe a little Nocioni there and a Thabo here, who knows what trade scenario would come up. It will likely bring Kobe to a potentially rebuilding team yet again.
Which is why in the first attempt of the "Trade Talk" he allegedly shut it down. Because he wants Ben G., Loul and Kirk or even 2 of them be a Bulls if he were going to be a Bull. That is where Mitch Kupchak enters, the notorious G.M. who is known best to be the one who traded Shaq. He would not want either Nocioni or Ben Wallace for Kobe, he will at leas ask for another All-Star other than Big Ben Wallace none of the Baby Bulls has been an All-Star yet, so say Mitch the genius that he is ask for Ben G., Loul and Kirk then Bulls GM John Paxson will probably shut down the trade himself, there is no way he'll trade all 3 at the same time (Yes, even for Kobe) which makes that scenario more complicated than it is.
So in reality the Kobe trade is still far from a storyline, more of a fantasy league scenario for all my understanding. C'mon Kobe Bryant is the only one who has the infamous "No-Trade Clause" on his contract, which means he is the only one who can ask for a trade and choose his destination. I say this KB24 trade thing is still far maybe Trade Deadline far, maybe just maybe if Kobe will take that No-Trade Clause of his in his contract maybe more trade scenarios will be painted by GM Kupchak, for now I think Black Mamba should play the way he is known for and just wait till there is a better scenario, he have until before the All-Star event on February to figure things out.
Who knows the Lakers might surprise anyone, I hear that Andrew Bynum is on his way, Javaris Crittenton is a fine at combo guard position and L.O. (Lamar Odom) If he decided to put his real game back, might be a big sleeper in the West. Right now all we have to do is wait and see on what will happen in next in this Kobe drama anthology, till then all we can say is What Would Kobe Do?
Ricky Davis Ready for the Heat
I love the fact that Ricky Davis is now a member of the former NBA Champs Miami Heat, well who doesn't? (Maybe haters.. but who cares?) I was surprised to read it on Hoopshype.com last few days and seriously thought that it was just a rumor, but after I saw it just the other night it was a sign of relief for me. I am a big Ricky bucketz fan, since he emerged as a star in Cleveland (Cavaliers) till he became a 6th man in Boston (Celtics) and as a K.G. (Kevin Garnett) sidekick in Minnesota (Timberwolves). Now he just gave the heat a legitimate 3rd head for that 3-head monster set-up. I know that the Celtics still hold the crown for the "Big Three" in the NBA, but having another legitimate scorer who is capable of bursting for 30 points any given night, not to mention those 5 rebounds and 5 assists tendency of this triple-threat dude.
Last year the Heat really needed a 3rd guy who can produce, with Dwyane Wade injured and Shaquille O'neal slowed down by age. The Heat really need someone to help thm, this off-season Miami failed to sign a legitimate scoring threat or a viable PG, as we've witnesssed Maurice Williams choose the Bucks (Milwaukee), Charlie Bell almost was signed but the Bucks seems to be a torn in the throat for Miami.
Yes, they did sign Smush Parker, but that is not really a big news as we all know Smush is well.. He's Smush. Yes, Penny Hardaway is a feel-good story of the year for the Heat (I'm glad his back in the league.) But he isn't really doing good scoring, more of a facilitator right now. So I guess acquiring Bucketz is probably the best move for Pat Riley and the Heat, (They also acquire Mark Blount) it givs them the added weapon in the perimeter that either James Posey and Antoine Walker can't provide for the Heat last season. With the Heat losing the 2 mentioned Posey to Boston and Walker to Minnesota as a part of the Davis deal.
The Heat fell pretty short in the perimeter, they lost one of my favorite Heat player Eddie Jones to Dallas Mavericks, Gary Payton to Free Agency and most probably retirement. So that means the backcourt is left with underachieving Dorell Wright, rookie streaky shooter Daequan Cook, injury-prone Jason Williams, happy camper Brian Chase, straight-out-of-semi-retirement Penny and the injured Superstar Wade, and with D-Wade injured and probably will see action by January. Ricky Davis has the room to show why he is a perfect perimeter compliment for the Heat.
I'm pretty excited to watch Ricky in a Miami Heat uniform, he brings a lot ot the table. Wade-Davis-Shaq is not bad to have in your team, considering Shaq gets back to playoff form once their there which is a big possibility, D-Wade gets back in shape which is expected there's a big possibility they will og deep in the playoffs this year. I really love the fact that Ricky is in a good team right now and will have a legitimate chance on making a good playoff run. It'll be exciting for the Heat once they get their guys healthy. I'm afraid it;s time to say this.. Umm.. The Heat is on.
