Review of The Renegade Network Marketer and Magnetic Sponsoring Books - Which One is Better?

"The Renegade Network Marketer" by Ann Sieg and "Magnetic Sponsoring" by Mike Dillard, are two of the best known books on Attraction Marketing for Network Marketers.

If you are looking to generate leads for your MLM business via the internet then you need the information in these books. But what are the differences between The Renegade Network Marketer and Magnetic Sponsoring books and which one will give you the most value?

Magnetic Sponsoring by Mike Dillard

I started my Internet Attraction Marketing education with Mike Dillard's Magnetic Sponsoring book. I had been building my Network Marketing business for several years yet the information in Magnetic Sponsoring was a complete revelation to me.

In his book Mike explains the concept of using the internet to attract prospects to you instead of you chasing down leads with old school Network Marketing techniques (COI lists, 3 foot rule, home meetings etc etc).

There is a great deal of information on developing yourself to become an Alpha Leader and promoting yourself as your primary marketing aim. This is referred to in Magnetic Sponsoring as You Inc and the concept of promoting yourself as a leader, rather than promoting your MLM opportunity, is cornerstone to Mike's message

Purchasing the book also gave me free access to the Magnetic Sponsoring Community with lots of free information, networking opportunities and a back office loaded with marketing links and business resources.

Magnetic Sponsoring was the information I needed to redesign the way I was promoting my Business. I started devouring every piece of information that Mike Dillard produced and quickly added his MLM Traffic Formula and Building on a Budget books to my library.

When I started sharing these books with my team members, I discovered not everybody related to Mike's Alpha Networker style and some needed a more step by step approach to understanding and developing their Attraction Networking business.

So I went in search of a system that my team could utilize to maximise their use of Web 2.0 Social networking marketing and found The Renegade University.

This system uses Ann Sieg's The Renegade Network Marketer as their course book (for reasons why see my blog post here) - so I needed to purchase Ann's book.

I really thought it was unnecessary for me to have the book as 'I already knew all there was to know' about Attraction Marketing from Mike Dillard's books. I could not have been more wrong!

The Renegade Network Marketer by Ann Sieg

I read The Renegade Network Marketer just so that I could guide my team members through the Renegade University. The message of attracting leads to you and monetizing the process is the same as Magnetic Sponsoring but the tone of the book is completely different.

Ann dwells more on the struggles and challenges that she personally faced in building her MLM business in the Traditional MLM Model and, as Ann puts it, the 'lies of Network Marketing' old school.

The style of the Renegade Network Marketer is more of a 'I know what you're going through, I've been there too and here's how you change things' than Mike Dillard's let's develop 'Alpha You Inc'.

Does this make The Renegade Network Marketer better than Magnetic Sponsoring? No, I don't think so, just very different in style.

So Which Should You Buy?

Honestly, if you are serious about developing your MLM business through Internet Attraction Marketing, then I suggest you buy both.

I would start with Ann Sieg's The Renegade Network Marketer purely because I found Ann's style is more 'relatable' for a wider cross section of people.

Purchasing the Renegade Network Marketer gets you instant access to the e-book* and a Back Office with an enormous amount of affiliate program opportunities and a mountain of information on marketing online. So much so that you may need a system like The Renegade University (as I did) to teach you to set it all up and maximise the program.

(* Edit note - Ann Seig's Renegade Network Marketer is now avialable in a 'physical edition' as well)

As you work through all of this you should order the Magnetic Sponsoring book. It's only $39.00 (at the time I wrote this) and, again if you're serious about building your business, the investment is worth it many times over. I more than made this much back with the first promotional email that I sent about it.

Mike Dillard's Magnetic Sponsoring comes as a physical book (actually a manual type in a folder) which takes longer to reach you but then you have the physical pages to highlight, mark and reference over and over and over again.

I suggest purchasing this book after The Renegade Network Marketer as you will have started on developing your leadership mindset and, I believe, better utilize the information in Magnetic Sponsoring.

If you are still not ready to part with any dollars for either books, then there are free downloads available for you to experience the style of each writer and give you an idea of what to expect from their respective books. Ann Sieg offers a free copy of her ebook The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing while you can sign up for a series of Boot Camp videos for free at Magnetic Sponsoring.

Valuable information for free is always a good thing.

I hope this clarifies a few things about The Renegade Network Marketer and Magnetic Sponsoring Books for you.

I've been such a big fan of Ann Sieg I never really considered buying Mike Dillard's book. Your article persuaded me to take a second look at Magnetic Sponsoring, and when I buy the book, I'll be getting it from you!

Well writen, clear and consice. I agree with you totally that serious internet network markters should not only have both books but use both systems. As you pointed out if for no other reason than to be able to support those on your team who are using each method.Attraction marketing is all about relating to folks and drawing them to you. The more approaches you take and the more different voices you utalize the more success you will achieve.

Excellent article on this subject. I have not yet purchased Magnetic Sponsoring, but I can see why it might be a good idea to purchase it later when I am ready to take my sponsoring to the next level.

I agree with you - Dillard's work was difficult for me to digest until after I had read Sieg's. Both are excellent resources.

Yes both are excellent resources. It fascinates me as I look at what Ann Sieg, the Renegade Marketer has managed to accomplish. She sets a great foundation for those serious about succeding in MLM. Dilliard does well to up the ante for those who are serious about making a living with MLM and the Internet! As for renegade u? Well that is where the rubber meets the road for those who are looking to seriously explode and became internet marketing gurus!

Fabulous hub!

I just love the Renegade Marketing book and just recently devoured it in one short sitting. It was exactly what I was looking for in helping others who join this business. Thank you for more info about Magnetic Sponsoring. I truly didn't know it was similar.

To Sylvan and others

If you are looking to introduce "The Renegade Network Marketer" to your business and your team, I strongly recommend the "Renegade University" to you. Have a look at our website http://www.MarkandZoe.com for details. The training Mike Klingler has put together at the University is incredible and it will make duplication in your team so much simpler.

Cheers Zoe

Good helpful information - excellent hub. I think both are great books and if possible should read both of them. I lean toward Renegade Marketer for my personal use, but Magnetic sponsoring was the first one I read and that started me looking at internet marketing.

good Work Zoe!

Hey Zoe,

I agree that both are essential. I too was introduced to Magnetic Sponsoring before The Renegade Network Marketer, and many of the leads I generated were thanks to his capture pages. And like you said, having access to MS Community is like having the best MLM teachers in a room with you.

I joined Renegade University before I purchased The Renegade Network Marketer, and after moving through the tutorials quickly realized I was missing out on something very valuable. Your hub was terrific at pointing out value in multiple sources of information. Mike Dillard is the grandfather of attraction marketing. But the pairing of The Renegade Network Marketer with Renegade University, in my opinion, is the best online.

Hi - I did almost exactly the same thing you did only a little vice versa.  I tried to understand Ann's ebook, then tried to understand almost all of Dillard's courses.  I though MLM Traffic Formula was great but difficult.

Then Mike Klingler's coaching totally shed light on all of it!  Plus it also threw me into faster and more massive action.  Like your downline, I finally get it thanks to Renegade U.  It is the best pairing of all of it because it's the best road to results!

Which one is easier to use?

I am not a savvy tech guy! :-(

I suggest you start with the Renegade Network Marketer. I believe it's 'easier' to read and the back end offers you a choice of programs to align yourself with to start making money from your marketing.

Better yet - go sign up for the Renegade University free training first(link in my article) and then decide if this is something that suits you and your business style. This will lead you to purchasing the Renegade Network Network Marketer book.

Let me know if you have more questions or stop by my blog for more info at http://www.RenegadeMarketerReview.com

Have an Awesome Day - Zoe

  • Internet Marketing for Network Marketers - The Power of Web 2.0 to Explode Your MLM Lead Generation

Are you attracting leads to your business? Or are you still spending time and money chasing opportunity leads to grow your network marketing business? The new generation of renegade network marketers is challenging the traditional methods for growing a network marketing business. It's not a matter of one way being right or wrong, it really is just a matter of using the "advantages" that are available by marketing on the internet and maximizing the power of new Web 2.0 technologies to grow your business faster than ever before. The World Wide Web is undergoing a change in the way that people interact and network with the growth of social network sites. There are thousands of social networks springing up all over the Web (in fact there are over 2000 already!), and this represents a huge opportunity for smart business owners to generate leads for their business and they're FREE! Sites such as Facebook and Myspace are well known, and used, by the Generation Y's to socialize and share information, images and music, etc. But network marketers are now maximizing these sites, and many others, to generate leads for their businesses and explode their downline recruiting. But that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to using internet marketing and social networking in particular to grow your network marketing business. What's social networking? Basically any site that allows the users to generate content by interacting, sharing information and connecting with other users is a social network site. This new generation of websites is called Web 2.0 sites or technologies and their growth is phenomenal. How can you use social networking sites to generate leads? There are so many ways to generate leads for free utilizing Web 2.0 sites that it can be quite daunting when you first start. To describe each method fully, I would need to write a complete book, but I would like to give you an outline of each so that you understand the options you have available and some example websites to start with. Note that these are only some of the free internet marketing options available to you and most overlap in terms of maximizing your positioning in the "natural search" results for search engines. Your free "social" internet marketing options include: Content Sharing: Example site: Squidoo - Where you simply post information to share with others. You could be posting information about a single idea or event (such as an upcoming training) or simply sharing information about yourself or your company. These are narrative style posts that are designed to create interest and enhance your positioning on search engines. Article Posting: Example Site: Ezine Articles, Idea Marketers - Taking content sharing a step further, you become an author and create articles (much like this one) designed to educate and inform. You then can 'post' these articles to various sites on the internet so that they can be viewed and shared with e-zine (electronic magazine) publishers. While article posting may increase your search engine ranking, the intention behind article posting is to give good information in your content so that online publishers will use your articles in their e-zines and extend your marketing reach to their readers. This gives you an opportunity to speak to a highly targeted group and positions you as an expert in your field. Book Marking: Example site: Digg, del.icio.us - Services that allow you to "flag" or "book mark" individual pages on the internet that interest you. This allows you to form a network of all of the places on the internet where you have content and link them to each other. Great for improving your search engine traffic and also allows your web visitors to access all of the information you have posted online. Fantastic to cross promote with other marketers and to 'give back' to other authors that you believe are offering valuable information. Social Sites: Example Sites: Face Book, MySpace, Direct Matches, Yuwie, Wowzza - These are networking or social gathering sites for internet users. Much like offline networking clubs, users set up a personal profile and then introduce themselves to other members. Online the networking is done by requesting other users to become your "friend" and view your profile. You can then exchange information and, depending upon the site, interact through groups with users with similar interests. Blogging: Example Site: Blogger - A blog in its basic form is simply an online diary, a place where you can share your knowledge, thoughts, feelings, opinions, etc. with the online community. Many people keep personal blogs to let family and friends know what they are up to; others post blogs to rally support for their organizations or causes while business owners can use blogs to share updated information with their customer and to advertise their business. To be successful, a blog needs to be "updated", or have posts added to it frequently - most popular blogs have daily (or more frequent) postings. Blog entries tend to be shorter and more relaxed in nature than article postings and often include pictures and/or videos. All online network marketing campaigns should include a blog as part of your overall marketing strategy Video Sharing: Example Site: YouTube - The social media that is exploding beyond all belief. This technology allows you to create a video and upload this to the Web for other users to view. Video sharing has already made superstars out of previously unknown musical artists by the "viral effect" created when users share the videos with their friends and networks. For the network marketers, video sharing is powerful as you can create a video, upload it, then link this to your other social marketing such as blogs, networking sites, content sharing lens etc., etc., etc. Plus many more... The opportunities appear endless, but it is important for you to know that the emphasis in social network marketing is to provide good information. If you approach these methods only with the idea of "selling" either your product or your opportunity, then you will quickly find that you run out of "friends" that are willing to hear your message. Exactly like word-of-mouth advertising in the offline market. So where do you start? I suggest you focus on one method at a time and get your first listing "up" as quickly as possible. If you spend too much time trying to make your first article perfect, then you will probably never actually post anything at all. If you are new to the internet or social marketing, then I suggest that you follow a step-by-step program that shows you exactly where to start. Two resources that I use and recommend are Ann Sieg's "The Renegade Network Marketer" and Mike Dillard's "Magnetic Sponsoring." Both of these systems teach you not only how to generate leads for free, but how to "monetize" the process so that you can actually generate revenue through the process. This helps to overcome another obstacle for many network marketers of not having enough cash flow to build their business. Two things every network marketer needs - more leads and greater cash flow! The perfect combination. Remembering, of course, that anything you do in building your network marketing business needs to be duplicatable by your team, we have chosen to use Mike Klinger's system, the Renegade University, to help us teach our team how to use Web 2.0 technologies to grow their businesses. The Renegade University is the training system for Ann Sieg's the Renegade Network Marketer. This program explains in detail the process of building your network marketing business online and how to attract leads to you instead of you chasing them down, a fantastic system that uses video tutorials to walk you (and your team members) step by step through the process of setting up your social networking "lead attraction" marketing. The exact system that you chose, or the methods that you use, are less important than the mind shift you need to do in order to recognize the value of this new marketing system and then get into action to implement this into your business. So put down that phone, stop cold calling leads and start your social marketing campaign today. You will be amazed by the opportunities that are available to you if you spend the time and energy in learning to maximize Inter-Net-work Marketing. - 2 years ago
