If you wanna teach money principles to your children this book could even be used for that purpose because the story is an entertaining fairy tale about finance using Babylonian parables.

For example chapter 3 list "seven cures for a lean purse":

"For every ten coins thou placest within thy purse take out for use but nine. Thy purse will start to fatten at once and its increasing weight will feel good in thy hand and bring satisfaction to thy soul."

That is to say you need to spend less than you earn and save 10% of what you make.

I really love this book much more than the maybe more famous "Science Of Getting Rich".

The Richest Man in Babylon The Richest Man in Babylon
Price: $2.86
List Price: $6.99

"What can a book written in the 1920s tell modern investors about their finances? A whole lot if it's George Clason's delightful set of parables that explain the basics of money. This is a great gift for a graduate or anyone who seems baffled by the world of finance and a wonderful, refreshing read for even the most experienced investor."

Great book I first read it in 1969 Read many times,

taught my sales people from it.

Had a copy on the bookshelf for many years. It has been lost in the shifting from one house to another.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. So inspiring, so powerful, so many words of wisdom in there. I was able to read the whole book in less than 6hrs. Just like you said, this is a book that can teach children some basic money principles, but all in the form of a novel. The title alone can easily draw the attention of anyone out there.

The book can be read online or even bought for less than $8. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Yes, I've got the actual book as well and it is great to refer back to it and have a read through every so often. Didn't know it was available for free download until reading this, so thanks. I think I'll make it available on my site. Everyone should read this book...we mioght not be in the economic mess we are now if some of the worlds bankers applied the principles - oooo controversial :>)

Cheers
