Well if you already have a grasp on the basics of dieting, here's some additional tips to help you supercharge your metabolism and you'll get rid of your love handles faster than ever before!

Make the Most of Your Morning !

A lot of things happen to your body while you sleep. Your body does its nightly maintenance routine, and uses up all the nutrients you gave it the night before. By the time you wake up, you're all out of juice so it's up to you to fill it up and you have to do it properly.

First, you're going to need a source of protein. Proteins are your basic building blocks so you always want lots of protein. Whey protein is great for the morning because it is absorbed fast.

Secondly, you're going to need a good source of energy - carbohydrates. But wait - fast burning carbs such as your average store bought cereal, make body's insulin levels rise and when they rise, your body stores fat instead of burning it away! So what does this mean? We need a slow burning carb! I recommend oatmeal. Why? It's much healthier than sugary cereal, low in fat, and low in calories. It’s high in fiber, and studies show that it lowers your LDL cholesterol levels. Best of all, it burns slower, you'll feel full longer, and you won't get that nasty insulin spike.

Eat More But Less

Eat 5-6 small meals per day, once every 2-3 hours rather than follow the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner schedule. This style of eating is great for your metabolism. It trains your body body to burn food all day long. Your body will realize that it has no need to store fat because energy is always available.

Digesting food burns Calories, so you'll also be burning calories all day long. The harder it is to digest the food, the more Calories you will use up. Proteins are harder to digest than slow carbs and slow carbs are harder to digest than fast carbs. Make sure your meals are mostly proteins, leafy green vegetables. Eat often, but don't stuff yourself silly. Never let yourself get hungry. It's okay to eat, just eat smart!

Give Your Body What it Needs

Your body goes through a lot during a workout. All that stretching and contracting of the muscles puts your body through a lot of punishment so it is important to take care of your body afterwards. Up to around 30 minutes following your workout, you are in what is called a window of opportunity. Your body is in a state where it is hungry for nutrients and what you feed it is very important.During this period, you should immediately replenish your body with liquids do prevent dehydration and intake a fast absorbing protein such as whey protein. Working out stimulates your muscle fibers but you need to feed it protein so it has the basic necessities it needs to repair and construct new muscle tissue. It is during this time period after your intense workouts that your body is most ready and willing to absorb what you put in it. Use this tip to boost your muscle gains! More muscles means faster metabolism, and faster metaboliusm means fat burning! Work out hard and remember to consume more protein!

Prepare Yourself Before You Sleep

Sleep is a very important part of your day. Your body does a lot of mysterious things during sleep - a lof of which we know know very little about. One thing we do know is that your body will do a lot of its repairs during the night. New muscle tissue will be constructed, and torn muscle fibers will be repaired. However, in order to do this, your body will need protein. If you go hungry during the night, your body will go into a catabolic state, where it will eat away at hard earned muscle instead. To prevent this, be sure to supply your body with enough nutrients before bed time.

You've probably heard people tell you to not eat before going to bed or you will gain fat. This is true only to a certain extent. Don't go eating a holiday sized mashed potatoe with gravy meal. Your body won't need that and it will store it as fat. What your body does need is a slow and steady source of protein. Whey is absorbed fast so it's not the right candidate. Casein protein, however, is a slow absorbing protein an it is just what our body is looking for.

Casein protein is found primarily in milk products. It is slowly digested over time so your body will receive a steady stream of protein while you sleep. I recommend low fat cottage cheese. It is a great sources of casein protein.
