The Right eBook Titles for Successful eBook Marketing

Authors don’t always pick a great ebook title that conveys what their ebook is actually about, which can leave a reader confused or feeling mislead. The right ebook title hooks the reader. It gives them something they really want, it grabs their attention, and it tells them what the benefit is going to be to them if they read it.

The wrong ebook title, on the other hand, is one that is uninspiring and may get passed over. If your readers don’t get excited by the title or don’t connect with it, they will move on to something that does excite them. The right ebook title is essential for your success in all of your ebook-marketing efforts.

Recognizing The Right eBook Title:

Tim Ferris wrote a best-selling book called The 4-Hour Work Week. Tim originally planned to title his book The Vagabond Millionaire because it conveyed the idea that he didn’t have to be tied down to one place; he could travel and conduct his business anywhere and still make millions! But when he tested it, people didn’t like it. To them, the word “Vagabond” had a negative connotation and subliminally brought about the message of being aimless, destitute or down-and-out. Nobody wanted it! (If you’re not familiar with the book, it is about how to outsource and put your business on automatic so you don’t have to work so hard.)

I venture to guess that if he would have named it, Outsourcing: Where To Find The Best Companies And How To Use Them, that it wouldn’t have done half as well as it has as The 4-Hour Work Week.

Not only are good ebook title important, they may even be more important than traditional book titles. When you publish an ebook, you want people to be able to find it and not only do your titles need to grab a readers’ attention, good ebook titles need to capture the attention of the search engines as well. So make sure you do some research on keywords before you write an ebook and keep those keywords consistent throughout your ebook-marketing campaign.

(Keywords are the words people search for when they are looking for a particular topic and if your ebook is on the topic they are looking for, you want to make sure they can find it easily and effortlessly!)

One problem I commonly see when people publish an ebook is that the title and text don’t match. Some authors come up with what seems like a good ebook title but upon reading the content, you may find the title has little or nothing to do with the subject of the ebook or maybe it represents the wrong perspective. This doesn’t help your ebook-marketing efforts and could actually end up hurting your reputation. Plus it could end up filling your mailbox with bad reviews and comments instead of overflowing with orders for your ebook.

So if you want to sell a lot of ebooks, find a good ebook title, one that catches your readers’ attention and makes them want to read on. Don’t forget to include keywords in your title that you can also use in your ebook-marketing efforts. Make sure when you write an ebook, your title reflects what your content is actually about. Follow these guidelines and you could have a best-seller on your hands and a lot more cash in your pockets!
