The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad
56This is one of Ray Harryhausen's best movies of all time. Watching stop-motion cyclops battling sailors, evil magicians, and dragons is just as fun as reading the Arabian Nights. Kerwin Mathews is Sinbad, with his lovely bride Parisa, portrayed by Kathryn Grant (also known as Mrs. Bing Crosby). Torin Thatcher is Sokurah, the evil magician who seems totally benevolent at first but turns out to be evil to the core. Well, that is a prime example of Shakespearean acting from Torin, a British film veteran since the 1930's. The genie (Richard Eyers) is a young boy who is both charming and helpful, ready to help Sinbad get out of dire straights on the Island of the Cyclops.
Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" is perfect for all ages on a Saturday night at home with plenty of snacks for everyone.

Sinbad is one of my favorite characters, MaryGH, and Bing Crosby, as you can tell from my avatar, is my No. 1 favorite of all time. Bing's wife, Kathryn, who has remarried, has written several books about her life with Bing and occasionally does a show of remembrance.
I'll bet that anyone who likes the "Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" will also like "Sinbad the Sailor" (1947) with Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Maureen O'Hara Walter Slezak and Anthony Quinn.
