The Fake Stuff & Rumors
If you are familiar with, or are a player of, any of The Sims games, you probably know there is a lot of talk about the release of the The Sims 3. The Sims and The Sims 2 are computer games from Maxis and Electronic Arts. These real-life simulation (Sim—get it?) games are incredibly popular among players of all ages, from teens to adults.
EA Maxis officially announced a sequel to The Sims 2 called The Sims 3 in November 2006. Since then, rumors and fake pictures and videos of the game have circulated around the internet. However, The Sims 2 most recent expansion pack, Free Time, came with a little surprise. During gameplay, a Mr. Humble gives your family a gift, with a note: “The gift from Mr. Humble turns out to be a new computer for you and your family! Perhaps this machine and the game included on it are signs of things to come...”
The game that comes with the Sims computer is Sims 3…the video below is supposedly a preview of Sims 3 from within the Free Time expansion pack. I only say “supposedly” because I haven’t gotten the expansion pack to see it for myself yet.

How do you know they are rumors?
You probably don’t want to get suckered into believing the rumors, especially if anyone is promising to sell you the game ahead of time. If you want to know real, authentic information, make sure it comes from EA or Maxis. Chances are that any new developments and announcements will be posted on The Sims 2 website. The website is pretty great about providing links to fans sites that provide information about the games. If you can’t really tie anything back to the official Sims 2 website, you shouldn’t believe what you read or see.
Don’t worry, I’ll update this article whenever more accurate information is provided about the release of The Sims 3.
The Best Fake Sims 3 Stuff
There is a lot of fake stuff out there about Sims 3, but some of it is pretty entertaining. If you pay attention, you will be able to tell what is fake and what isn’t…but, as of right now, 99.98% of it is fake.
The following video is obviously not really a preview for Sims 3, but it is funny. Plus, they show some of the stuff that is supposedly supposed to happen in the new game, like sims with more sophisticated social skills that they learn over time. Just watch it:

EA might not be ready to talk about the new game yet, but that doesn’t mean players haven’t let their creative imaginations run wild. I wonder just how much more realistic they can make this game, but still keep it fun?
Here is a cute little preview of what is to come. Do you think this is what they meant when they were talking about more advanced social skills? It is quite fun to have the Sims in this video speak English instead of Simlish…I always wondered what they were really talking about.
A Supposed "Upgrade" for Sims 3
Actually, when I see videos like the one below, it makes me think that people would be crazy to believe this is really for Sims 3 because it looks so much like Sims 2. Sure there are some things shown in the video that I’ve never seen in the Sims 2 game, but I also don’t have all of the stuff packs or any custom content. If the new game pretty much looks the same, but has more sophisticated interactions, I guess I’d stick with Sims 2.
But, I am willing to bet that there will be a lot of upgrades and differences with Sims 3. Now we just have to see if our computers can handle it!

The Sims games are popular, so there are a lot of fans out there eagerly awaiting new information. There are also a lot of fans out there having fun and making up information about new games. This is fairly harmless, and can be pretty funny. But remember that there are also people out there who want to scam others.
Do not offer to pay for any advance copies or sneak peeks of any games. If EA offers to sell one of their games early, you will find links from their official websites.
Until we get more word, have fun thinking about all of the cool stuff that will be in the new game. What would you like to see in the new game?

I totally hear you on the cost. We don't want to have to buy an all new game...but, if it is good...
im happy that their coming out with this but mad that they're doing it so soon. They shold have continued to expand sims 2 while perfecting sims 3, it seems to me like they're just kind of throwing it out there when there are also some other things they could have done to make the sims 3 even better. (it kinda also seems like they could have made an expansion pack for the new features on the game instead of a whole new game, now i have to start from scratch, lol.) :/ but then again i never played it so i can critisise it just yet. :P well, all in all, im actually really excited about this and am saving up any spare money i have right now for this game!
I just shake my head on the realism of these simulation games. I remember playing the orignal SimCity and thinking that was cool. The problem with all these games is that they can really chew up the time. I have to be selective about which ones I start, because it just leaves a hole in my day.

Me and my friend got all the Sims 2 games and can't wait for sims 3!!! We are saving our money so we can both get it at the same time and are going to get all the expansions when they come out! I hope that sims last forever and there will be like Sims 28 or something!!! Then I could tell my children when I'm older and they are playing the Sims 28 that I played the Sims 1 and 2!!!!!! Yeah!!!
EA/Maxis will do what it did with Sims1. It no longer provided the 'exchange' for Sims1 in order to push Sims2. Now it's selling objects for Sims2 individually. With Sims3, my guess is they will no longer have the exchange, which is part of the whole fun of the game, and people will have to buy Sims3, then Maxis will charge individually for things in the game. You even have to pay for the download program as well as purchase the item. Tech Support at EA/Maxis is the worse part. The answer never has anything to do with your email question. If you email them "my hair is on fire" their response will be "throw out the cat"

I am also a great fan of Sims. I have preordered my original copy of Sims 3. I'm from Malaysia thus, the cost of Sims 3 is dear. I don't mind getting it because it is something that I always look forward too. Just hope that the Sims 3 system requirements works on your computer!

I have been a player of the sims aswell and i am excited about the sims 3. But the sims 2 really takes up alot of space! It can really slow down your computer. Its also has really slow loading screens even though i have a fairly modern computer. But the good thing about sims 3 is that there wll be NO loading screens traveling between places! I just hope that the sims 3 won't stuff up my computer like the the sims 2 did.I also heard its going to be 50 bucks in american money. but i don't know, they haven't officially released the price.
I have both the original and the sims 2. The last I checked, the specs were to high for the sims 3. I still am having fun with the sims 2 anyways.
hey i know its kidna silly and please don't hate me D: but for a kid who's jsut brought a laptop last christmas and can't afford to get a dual core processor or a good graphics card the system requirements are kinda high (dell forced me into the integrated graphics card and vista D: ) i so wat to play it!!! i'm just annoyed that the CPU needs to be better because of vista and my graphics card TT_TT

I don't think I like the way the sims 3 people look...how real they look. I love the sims 2 and can always make cute sims and these new sims look goofy. I just hope I'm being weird about this. I guess I'll find out in a few days when it comes out.

Agree with that. i have bought the game from about 3 days ago, but i have't played with it yet. My brother it still upgrading the laptop that im going to use. and both of us are busy..because of work.. so hopefully, by today when i get home, he already got the additional RAM installed. my laptop has 1GB RAM. we're adding up 2GB more.
I think there will be expansion packs because on the Sims 2 they had Seasons and Vacations etc. so if Sims 3 was one game I think they would've included these... :) plus if its one game they won't make any money in the future on expansion packs.... remember its a business!! :D
Oh and by the way I have had Sims 3 for about a week now. It's really good without loading screens but it's harder than Sims 2 to control....because you have to right click before you can move anywhere :/.....and there is babies but instead of being in diapers they are in blankets.....It's really good that you can make fat,thin,muscly sims....It's difficult for them to fall in love and get romantic....I have tried so many times but I think the traits have to be similar.....for example, one of my girls was flirting with a guy and everything was going great, then she told a joke.........it went from good to bad in seconds because it tuns out that the guy has 'No Sense Of Humor'......whildt my girl sim has a 'Good Sense Of Humor'.... hahaha not very compatible with each other..............I think EA lied because they said that sims will cater to their own needs and we won't have to do hardly anything but you have to get the stupid moodlets which is from the needs!! :| ... . . hope this has helped...

i love the sims 3 but there is one thing that is annoying the heck out of me! they have babies without you knowing it! i disabled the story progression but babies are popping up every where! does anyone know how to stop it, because if you do i would really appreciate it! THANKS!

Yes!!! The babies!!! Where are all these babies coming from??? I don't want babies! They're totally messing up my game. In fact, I am very disappointed in this game. Other than it has better graphics and a few more options, I think it is a downgrade from the Sims 2.

I have had Sims 3 for a months or too, running it on my MacBook Pro. This is the first Sims I have ever played and I really like it.
I think sims 3 looks cool, but it coasts too much money. I'm going to ask for it for my birthday so I don't have to pay for it!

i got it for my bday a few weeks after it came out but didnt really play it much i played sims 2 mostly but recently i lost my sims 2 game so i started on sims 3 again and i love it its kinda slow sometimes and if i play for a long tme my screen gets dark but other then that its great! i tried some tricks from sims 2 like having a floating house or a bridge over the pool and they go great my sims keep looking around and getting a "fascinated" moodlet from the nice lot
