The Smart Way to Save Money
52
I am a retired business man that has always looked for value in everything I have done. Here are some useful tips that I have learned and discovered over the years as well as my most recent way to save money.
There are a variety of methods to save money, and all you need is some common sense to do so. Managing finances and saving for the future or for tough times is something many people don’t do.
What are our ways to save money or increase wealth?
- Money in a savings account
- Investing money to create wealth
- Better management of our spending
The first thing to do is forced saving, no matter how little or more you earn, make a habit of saving at least 10% of your salary or earnings every month. Economists say that if a person saves 30% of their income they will be financially independent.
The second item is to invest our money. Well most of us are pretty gun shy right now due to the real estate market and the stock market. I think what has happened to most of us is that we have depended on others to do our investing for us be it a mutual fund or a real estate agent. The best advice I have ever heard is to educate yourself to invest. Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump wrote a book called “Why We Want You to be Rich.” This book does an excellent job of explaining why you need to spend the time to educate yourself.
The third and the smartest way to save money is to find a cheaper source for the same product. How can you do this. We are familiar with many of these methods already.
- Use a coupon
- Wait for a sale
- 2 for 1 deals
- Buy in bulk
All of these methods are wonderful ways to save additional money and these hard times call for changing our habits. Habits are the key if we do not have the discipline to change our habits then we will never save money. This is true for all of this savings money learning to invest money and buying smarter.
Let us concentrate on buying smart today. I have been a fan of the buying clubs for years and routinely by my toilet paper and items in bulk from Costco. But what about the other things you can’t find at Costco. Well I found a website that has created marketing agreements with all the big name.
These marketing agreements mean that you save different amounts with different stores but you get actual cash back from your purchases not points or credit but real money. They provide it either by check or by paypal which ever you like.
I know what you are thinking though why would they do this. Well think of it this way. You watch an advertisement on TV for Home Depot. What guarantee does Home Depot have that you will buy something from them none right. Well if you purchase through this web portal they are making an actual sale. There is a real purchase matched up with a marketing dollar. It is very cost effective for Home Depot to use this approach and you benefit what more could you ask for right.
