The Smokeless, Odorless Cigarettes

A "Cleaner" Cigarette?

RJR Nabisco is releasing the new Premier cigarette, a battery operated, smokeless, and odorless cigarette, for test marketing in December 2007. While it isn't a healthy cigarette, it may offer a healthier option for those who wish to smoke, or for those who find it difficult to quit. The cigarette still gives you a dose of addictive nicotine, but without the smoke.

You may remember that they introduced a smokeless Premier cigarette in the late 1980s, but it wasn't the success many hoped it would be.

How Does It Work?

The smokeless cigarette looks like a normal cigarette (so no fear of "looking different"). You still have the pleasure of lighting up by lighting the tip of the smokeless cigarette. The tip contains a bit of carbon, which releases a smoke that travels through an aluminum tube. The tube is coated with beads of tobacco essence and natural flavorings.

By the time this mixture reaches you, it tastes like hot tobacco smoke, delivering a dose of nicotine - so, you still get your fix.

What's In Your Cigarette?

Is It Healthier?

What you actually inhale contains much less tar, the mix of chemicals that causes cancer and lung disease. As well, the second-hand smoke is not nearly as intrusive as the smoke from regular cigarettes. It is supposed to be nearly odorless, dissipating quickly.

No ash is created! So, you no longer have to worry about ashes in your bed, missing as you flick out of the car window, or hiding those ash trays when the kids come in the room. Most importantly, no more ashes in your drinks!

Because the lit tip is recessed, it won't be as easy to start fires with the Premier cigarette - no more holes in your clothes? No more scorch marks on the coffee table? No more flaming mattresses? The novelty of it all!

Yes or No?

Personally, I'm not a smoker. However, I would much rather prefer hanging out with someone who smokes one of these faux cigarettes than someone who is polluting themselves and everyone around them with the stink of real cigarettes.

Of course, it all comes down to choice.

Great hub... very interesting info!

But I still find myself wondering WHY. I mean, what's the point? This sounds a bit like "fake sugar" and "fake fat..."

Very informative. I hope it will take on, as long as there are no other side effects.

I really just cannot believe that people cant give it away. My husband just said to me one day, We cant afford to waste money on cigs anymore and that was it he just stopped. And no he was a very heavy smoker. I think it is will power nothing more or less. If you are really dinkum then you can do it if you believe in yourself.

Great hub though and very interesting.

I smoked briefly for a few weeks and then I stopped, I never found anything good about it. That picture middle summarizes it best, so many harmful ingredients in cigarattes, where is the high by consuming these ingredients.

Smoking is for losers! They should raise the taxes on cigarettes even higher to cover the costs to society of the health effects.

You're kidding me. This is just weird. But I enjoyed reading about these weird cigarettes. I'm so glad that I never started.

Any idea where can one get a sample, or where to purchase them?

I think this is a great idea. I have been a smoker for years and for a long time I've been wanting to give it up. Although, with the smoking bans all over the place, everyone has to go outside to smoke. I have found since I'm the only smoker in my group of friends, I'm always going outside by myself. I tend to meet some of the best people from going outside to smoke. It's a social thing, and that's the part I find hard to give up smoking. I'm a very sociable person, and when you have something in common such as smoking, it's very easy to start up a conversation with randam people. I would love a product that doesn't have the smell and the mess and the harmful side effects. Is this product out yet? I would definitely sample this product!!!! Cheers!

these have become quite common in the UK, since smoking was banned in public places such as pubs and railway stations.

This is a really perfect method for someone who wants to quit smoking, or get into "smoking" without the side effects ... such as cancer. We liked it so much, we started importing them. it's selling like hotcakes here in Manila =)

I have quit smoking using a similar product and it really worked for me. Now me and my wife are smoke free. I never thought I would quit smoking but I did and it was easy. This is my hub I never knew a thing like this existed.
