The Step Child

A step child is defined by wikipedia as " the children that are acquired when the parents enter a new marriage" this is a simplified meaning but you get the gist. This child has this new mother or father and they are simply living together, there are lots of factors that go into the relationship, needless to say it can be complicated. Why is it so complicated though all they have to do is give love and affection to this human being. Treat this child with kindness and understanding as they themselves would want to be treated.

I remember when I went to live with my father and his wife, I was about 12 years old. She had just had her first child. I didn't really know how to speak to her, but she was never mean to me. I don't think we really for about six months, she was spending a lot of time raising her little girl. Looking back at it in this present moment all I remember is missing my mother but that is another story. As time went on we had a good relationship, she was the buffer between me and my father. But I would always see the way she would treat her biological kids and I would be a little envious. There was the hug I wish I had. The questions about my day never asked. I am not even sure how to fully explain the feeling of envy because it was nothing that she conciously did it was just a lack of warmth that I would feel some times. As I got older I understood it little more but I never liked it. I thought about it sometimes while in college and thought it sense when a woman feels the pain of bearing a child there is a bond that is unbreakable so it is only logical that she would love them more than me. I guess it is the way of the world when something is yours you feel more of an atttachment to it. Thank God that Jesus had Joseph for a step-father.
