Edgar Allan Poe (January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849) Born in 1809, Edgar Allan Poe's 200th birthday just happened the year I am writing this. The United States Post Office issued a commemorative stamp to honor the occasion.
Poe is best remembered by his excellent fiction.
