The Taino would know 2012
59What is precession?
Did you know that thousands of clay tablets describing the precession of the equinoxes have been discovered written in the oldest known human language?
Simply put, precession is merely a wobble in the Earth's axis that requires a little less than 26,000 year to complete.
It really only takes 2160 years of observation of the night sky to become aware that there is a wobble in the Earth's axis...
Pacua and the Sacred Tree
Precession, Polaris and solstice
The Taino aware of the changes of season observed the sun and how it moved in the sky. A well-known star of special significance to them was Anacacuya- from Annáka (center-middle) and cuya (star-constellation), the North Star which they associated with the Ursa Major constellation.
By definition the North Star is the star most closely aligned with the Earth's axis.
Civilizations on our continent left constructions and artifact that remain long after people disappeared. These are precious indicators of the cultures and philosophies that we inherit by virtue of occupying the land. Such as pyramids, built throughout Meso and South America; these incredible structures raise questions about how so-called primitive minds could achieve World wonders.
A modern American perception of our native population would describe them as primitive, implying without knowledge. Yet, when we remove the lenses we are schooled to rely upon, and conceive our Continent before the arrival of the Pinta, Nina and Santa Maria, an incredible kind of technology emerges. Besides their legendary building skills, it's amazing to discover the scope of their knowledge of astronomy.
The great Maya left us archeological marvels that depict precise cyclical movement of stars and constellations in our galaxy.
The secrets to building pyramids may not be the only information to reach America before the Europeans...

Mayan Elders speak...
- Mayan Elders speak... - 6th MASS EXTINCTION - tribe.net
CARLOS BARRIOS was born into a Spanish family on El Altiplano, the highlands of Guatemala. His home was in Huehuetenango, also the dwelling place of the Maya Mam tribe.
December 21 of 2012 has been used as the date of the end of the World. However, this date points to the beginning of a new cycle, marked in the tradition of the Mayan Elders as a time of harmony and spiritual growing, this cycle is called the FIFTH SUN.
“For the Inka, Maya and Aztec philosophers, and the most learned caciques of the Antilles, time consisted of a succession of eras, each of which ended with events that radically changed the direction of humanity.”
Modern man tends to expect scenarios depicting the destruction of the World. The Taino, on the other hand, were open to the concept of eras because their own concept of the Creation of the Universe included five eras.
"Anthropologists visit the temple sites," Mr. Barrios says, "and read the steles and inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It's just their imagination... Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed. The indigenous have the calendars, and know how to accurately interpret it, not others."
Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from and signified by the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy. At sunrise on December 21, 2012 for the first time in 26,000 years the Sun rises to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life, a tree remembered in all the world's spiritual traditions.
Some observers say this alignment with the heart of the galaxy in 2012 will open a channel for cosmic energy to flow through the earth, cleansing it and all that dwells upon it, raising all to a higher level of vibration.
"It will change," Mr. Barrios observes. "Everything will change." ...

Accuracy without instruments
"We now know that the Maya knew the exact length of the true solar year as 365.2420 days, that is, with a minus error of 0.0002;
Our present Gregorian calendar has it at 365.2425, or a plus error of 0.0003.(William Gates, Yucatan Before and After the Conquest)
Maya astronomers determined astronomical constants with remarkable accuracy. In our technological age, their feats seem incredible, if not impossible, without telescopes, clocks and measuring devices.
We have forgotten what can be achieved by careful naked eye observation using simple instruments, or even no instruments at all...
