They are Both Stories Told to Teach a Lesson

When I was a child I loved the story of the three little pigs. My mother would read it whenever I asked her. Like any small child, I enjoyed the story because of the colourful characters, the exciting conflict between the pigs and the wolf, and the death of the evil wolf at the end. Eventually I learned "the moral of the story" and the lessons it taught. Don't be lazy....You'll be sorry if you don't do the best job possible....etc. I read the story again and again but I never stopped and scrutinized the truth and validity of each sentence. I never said "Mom, Pigs can't talk can they? Mom, How can a pig build a house? Mom, Where do the pigs live today? Mom, What about the wolf's brother and wife and children. Even a young child realizes that the story is not real. The older child soon learns fictional stories like these are told to children to teach the child a lesson. It is much easier for the mind of the child to remember the story than to remember the lesson.

I suggest to you now that The Holy Bible, both the old and the new testament was written in the same way with the same purpose. In scripture's case however, the lessons are much more important. Scripture imparts to man the lessons of God. Among other things, they tell of a person called Jesus. The story has Jesus walking the earth like a man and healing people and teaching people and huffing and puffing and blowing the moneychangers out of the temple. The lesson it teaches the man or woman reading it is often missed completely or not given the correct significance.

In addition to the "parables of Jesus" in the new testament I would again suggest to you that the entire 66 books of the Holy Bible are parabolic. When various characters in the bible ask to "see the Lord" they are always told they do not understand scripture for if they did they would know the Lord. Statements like this make no sense to our rational mind until we accept the symbolic nature of scripture. When we read a passage and ask ourselves; "What was the writer getting at? What lesson is he trying to impart? then everything becomes clear.

The main lessons the writers of scripture want us to learn are:

  1. God is an internal not external being. He is in you and me and will awake in the form of Jesus.
  2. Until God awakes within you, you can make your life much easier and happier if you know his promises and know how to pray to the God with in you when you ask for the things you desire.

Saul was taught and believed in an external God. When he found the truth, God changed his name from Saul to Paul. The change in name symbolizes the change of mind. In Corinth.5:16 Paul said "Wherefore henceforth, we know no man according to the flesh. And if we have known Christ according to the flesh; but now we know him so no longer" Paul could no longer accept the Lord Jesus as being a man...instead he was a spirit (The Holy Ghost).

John tells us: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwells within us."

Choose this day whom you serve. If you choose the Lord, then serve Him. If you choose man, then serve him.

The Lord God in Jesus in you is the true Glory of God. His name is I AM.

From: Pauls' Autobiography - Neville Goddard

You ask the question of Paul: “Was he or Christ once really a man?” If you asked that of Paul, he would say: “Was?” “He is the heavenly man.”Well, does that answer you? You are asking the question: “Was he really ever a man?” and you’ll reply: “Not was - he is the heavenly man.” “As we have borne the image of the man of dust, so shall we also bear the image of the heavenly man.” That still doesn’t satisfy. “Was he really a man as we understand a man?” He doesn’t respond, in time. Then you read his words: “From now on we will regard no one from a human point of view, even though we formerly regarded Christ from a human point of view, we regard him thus no longer.” (2 Corinthians 5:16) Then he makes the statement in the same chapter: “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not counting any trespasses against them, and entrusting us with the message of reconciliation.” (v. 19) You will see later on what Paul is trying to tell us, if I would substitute the word “imagination” for “God,” and “imagining” for “Christ.” Imagining means the activity of imagination - that imagination was imagining, reconciling the world to himself and not counting any trespasses against them, and then entrusting to us this message of imagining.

Now we will go to this great Book of Galatians, 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Bear in mind imagining being that son, imagination being God the Father. Now let us go to the first two verses of the 3rd chapter: “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?” Listen to the words carefully: “Before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.” Do you know what “portray”means? I think we all know, but let me refresh your memory: “To depict in a drawing or painting; or in some verbal description; or as an action on a stage,” a play on the stage. “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?” Answer me only this: “Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?” “Are you so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, are you ending with the flesh?”

Do you get it? The whole vast world has fallen victim to believing in the flesh of Jesus.

To which I Reply:

I apologize for my brevity. The Holy bible really is a series of symbolic stories, written by men who experienced the birth of God as Jesus within themselves, which impart lessons to man regarding his divine nature and the abilities God in us gives us to make use of His power.

The Holy Bible is most certainly not secular history.

No, it's not...The point I was trying to get across, about the Bible, is that it is of The Holy Spirit, and to me, as well to others who are saved, it is The Holy Spirit....

I left that thread long ago, even though I started it, when the trash started flowing in....Peace!!

The bible is full of scripture like this...and when we read it we go "what!?!" So I would humbly ask you to explain what you mean by holy spirit.

The Holy Spirit comes From God...When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit....The Holy Spirit is of God...

The Bible is The Word of God, written by those of who God chose....In other words, the words came from God's Lips to the scriptor's ear....

Revalation says in verses 18 & 19 of Revalation 22: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book (The Holy Bible). If anyone adds anything to them (words to the Bible), God will add to him the plagues described in this book. (19) And if anyone takew words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book" And verse 20 tells us who spoke those words..."He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." (Jesus).

The Bible Is Holy, because it is the Sporken Word Of God....Through the Holy Spirit....So, therefore it is The Holy Spirit....I've thought this for years, and it wasn't all that long ago, when our Pastor confirmed my belief....

And that's also why I wonder...For those that are still trashing the thread, do they know exactly what they are doing? I don't think so.....

pjk, I like the way you have written this. So many just don't get it, and refuse to see. And allot of people don't apply the guide (the bible), to their own lives. Instead, by keeping 'God' an external principle interpretations are skewed. Good hub.

PJK, this is great! This reflects the teachings that I learned as a child when clerics were still interested in the message rather than the vehicle it travels on. I remember the parables so well; 'The Prodigal Son', 'The Good Samaritan' and so on. My understanding of them, both then and now, is that these were lessons in how to live our lives, and that if every individual followed these teachings, the world would come right. Thank you for this.

DeBorrah K. Ogans says (after I correct her spelling):

The Holy Bible is the written inspired WORD of God! I gathered from this hub that The Three Little Pigs is a fictional story teaching a lesson. The Bible is Factual TRUTH teaching many lessons!

To which I reply:

The amount of learned ignorance in the world astounds me!

There are enough "contradictions and discrepancies" found in the bible to make this an argument easily won...but I shall not go there. Instead I state with the same conviction as you that the bible IS A FICTIONAL STORY teaching many lessons about the TRUTH. Scripture is a series of stories written by ancient anonymous persons describing the birth of God within themselves...and how it will happen in you and me and all of us...you'll see.

DeBorrah K. Ogans also says (after I correct her spelling):

Jesus became the WORD wrapped in flesh! When we accept Him as Lord and Savior He then lives within us....

To which I reply:

So. Are you telling me that God or Jesus does not exist in ALL of us from the day we are born, but instead He does not enter us until we are old enough to...read? ...or to believe and understand what our parents/priests tell us?...and then decide to accept and believe this truth? Does this also mean all Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc are doomed and will never experience the truth? Nonsense!

I almost agree with this...except He is in all of us whether we accept and believe it or not...when we accept it our lives become much happier.
