The Top 14 links to make you a better pilot
59
As a pilot there are always sites on the Internet that are very interesting to browse
These tend to fall into distinct categories
A) Sites related to flying an aircraft or preparing for a flight
B) Sites related to the aircraft itself
C) Other aviation sites
The links below fall into each and all of those categories. You'll find links to various aircraft manufacturers, links to sites selling pilot supplies (both US and UK based), flight planning and weather links as well as connections to the web site of our key controlling bodies the FAA and CAA.
Enjoy !
- The UK General Aviation Database
Are you connected to the UK General Aviation Website yet? If not, you should be. It has details of every UK airport, a forum, contact details and - I use this all the time - a flight planning facility which automatically looks up weather and relevant - Left Seat - 21st century tools for pilots
Leftse.at provides a suite of web-based tools for pilots, combining chart management, an electronic logbook, photo sharing and community tools to create a productive yet social environment for 21st century aviators. - On-Line Pilot supplies (UK)
Need a new chart, headphones, or a GPS? There are lots and lots of aviation suppliers on the web. My personal favourites are Transair and AFE Online - On-Line Pilot supplies US
Need Charts, GPS or headsets in the US? Here's your link - Aviation weather
Wherever you are flying you always need good weather reports. This is a US based service that also covers places like the UK - The Civil Aviation Authority
"They who must be obeyed in the UK" - The FAA (pilots section)
"They who must be obeyed in the US" - The Cessna Aircraft site
For those of us wanting to fly the 150, 172 or even the RG versions! - The Piper aircraft site
For those of us flying Piper Warriors or Cherokee's etc. - The Cirrus Aircraft site
I learned to fly with a guy who had just bought a Cirrus. Lucky guy! - The Tecnam Aircraft site
You know who you are - The Beech aircraft site
If you're an MS Flight Simulator fan you'll have flow the Beech Bonanza or the King Air. This is the site - Airliners . Net
For loads and loads of pictures of aircraft taken in every conceivable position, location and attitude go to Airliners.Net Check out some of the scary approaches into the old Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong. If video is more your style, check out their - Microsoft flight Simulator
I know pilots tend to "pooh pooh" the MS Flight Simulator but I honestly believe that the reason I managed to learn to fly so quickly is because I have many hours of simulator experience. While the feelings etc, aren't as realistic as a proper plane,
I'm sure there are loads of other sites out there that pilots use. If so, drop me a line and let me know (Use the comments section below)

excellent list of resorces
I'm looking for an Aviation forum, do you know of one?
I'm also working on creating an online course learning the basic knowledge needed to learn to fly, that would be aplicable anywhere in the world. Your list of resorces would be great to link to my course, if you don't mind.
