The Treasure is You - A Valentine for your Husband
53This is a super fun Valentine's Day date idea for you to do for your husband. It does take a bit of planning and thought, but the effort you put into it will surely be appreciated. There are many variations to this idea; this is just one of them.
Step 1 Pick five places in your area...make them significant to your relationship, if you can. For example, the place where you first met, the place where you went on your first date, your favorite park, your favorite store, etc. If you can't make them significant to your relationship, say you just moved to a new city, then just pick places like a flower shop, a bookstore, a bakery, a restaurant or coffee shop, etc. Use your imagination.
Step 2 Then either stop in or call each location and ask if they would be willing to help you out...most likely they will as this is fun for them to do as well. Basically, they are just holding a clue and perhaps a prop or gift to give to your husband when he arrives at the location and asks for a clue.
Step 3 - Write the clues to your hunt. Now is the time to be poetic. If you are not inclined to be poetic, then wing it! The purpose is to be fun, mysterious and spontaneous. Yes, it may feel awkward now, but it won't later. The first clue will be the instructions of the hunt... telling him where to start and what to ask at each location... you could put this in his briefcase, with a note to open at the end of the day or put it in his coat pocket and send a mysterious email to check his coat or his sock drawer... something along those lines.
Step 4 - Put each clue in an envelope with your husband's name on it and the name of where it goes for your ease of distribution. Just make sure the clues go in order. The last clue will be where you are at - the real treasure...so think about where you want to end the hunt - at home, at a hotel, at a restaurant, at a coffee shop, at an ice skating rink? - Wherever you want it to be. At each stop, there will be a clue and possibly a wrapped prop or small gift- a bottle of wine, a dessert, a rose, a piece of lingerie, a new cd, etc. for him to take with him and share with you when he finds you. The possibilities are unless and really amp ups the romance factor.
Have fun dating your spouse this Valentine's Day.

Thanks for your comment! I personally think that dating your spouse is the key to a happy marriage. Happily married since 1990, wish that I knew this secret from the beginning. Ah, live and learn. Happy Valentine's Day to you. :-)
And to you, Jenna!

This is very much like one of my favorite dates in high school! Oddly enough, I hadn't thought of doing it with my husband now that I have 3 kids to shuffle, schoolwork to organize and grade, animals to care for, etc.
What a neat idea to bring the fun into a relationship that can sometimes become mundane with daily activities!
