TriVita is a health and wellness company with offices based in Scottsdale, AZ. While their best known products include Sublingual b-12, Optima and the weightloss product, Leanology, they actually offer about 50 different varieties of nutritional supplements designed to provide consumers with a basic sense of wellbeing.
The company itself has been in existence for 10 years, created by Michael Ellison, in conjunction with Barry Borthistle, under the umbrella of Ellison's wellknown 31 year old media company, Ellison Media in 1999.
The Mission to Offer both Health and Wealth to Their Customers
Though TriVita offers plenty in terms of products for a healthy wellbeing, Ellison and Borthistle's plan to offer wellbeing didn't stop there. They wanted to offer people the total package- good health and financial security and so, the TriVita Business Opportunity was born.
The TriVita business opportunity is founded on the principle of cooperative marketing. Essentially cooperative marketing implies an agreement between 2 entities to assist each other in building of the business. In this case, the cooperation is directly between the affiliated member of TriVita and the TriVita company itself.
As part of their cooperative marketing plan, TriVita introduced the Media Acquisition Plan or MAP. MAP allows affiliate members to purchase commission rights to buying TriVita customers brought in through the company's own media advertising.
This approach to business building ensures that anyone, regardless of advertising skill and ability, can benefit from the business. That's not to say it doesn't require a commitment, it does, but that commitment could be something as simple as buying customers on a monthly basis rather than spending money on advertising.
In additon to offering a passive approach to business building through the MAP program, TriVita also does all of the follow up with every customer by sending them product catalogs, the company Vita Journal and several email updates full of health and product information which just further shows their dedication to ensuring their affiliates' success.
The Focus on Customers Ensures Success
Rather than most of each affiliate's commissions being made off referral of additional distributors, the foundation of a TriVita business is through customer repurchases.
TriVita's focus on ensuring that each affiliate has a solid customer base to make money from is what makes it so different from MLM. In traditional MLM, affiliates usually dont even bother making an effort to sell the products (if there are products), they simply refer other affiliates for a quick lump sum commission. This leads to an oversaturation of affiliates in relation to customers.
In a healthy business model, there should be at least 100 customers to each enrolled affilate. TriVita goes above and beyond that with an average of 300 customers to every enrolled affilate- most of them coming from their own marketing efforts. This means that even without the help of their affiliate base, TriVita would still be a healthy, thriving company in the health and wellness industry. The addition of affiliates to the equation simply expands their advertising and branding efforts without cutting into their overall costs.
