The Truth About the Flu Vaccine Side Effects

The flu vaccine side effects have raised controversy over whether the vaccine is healthy and effective. Influenza is contracted by over 50 million people each year. The most susceptible are children who are 2 to 3 times more likely to get the virus. Other susceptible groups are people over 65 years old, pregnant women and people with disease. The flu shot is promoted mostly to these groups, but it is ironic that these groups are the most vulnerable to reactions to the vaccine because their immune systems are already weakened.

The flu, (influenza), which can be caused by many different viruses, is a respiratory infection. Symptoms include body aches, chills, stuffy nose, sore throat, dry cough, headaches, extreme exhaustion and fevers. These reactions are due to foreign proteins and toxic by-products that are unavoidably added in the cultivation process. When injected into the bloodstream they bypass the hydrochloric acid of the stomach, which would neutralize them, allowing for the possibility of unpleasant side effects.

Many people have come to believe that the flu is an inevitable part of life and the only effective way to prevent it is through vaccinations. Statistically, you are not less likely to get the flu by taking the flu vaccine. During one flu epidemic in recent years it was claimed by one hospital emergency ward that out of 32 people who were vaccinated, 30 ended up with the flu. Nursing homes during this epidemic reported a much higher death rate than the previous year even though there was a 100% vaccination rate. The reason the flu vaccine has such a low success rate is because there is no way to know which strain of influenza will hit a country in the upcoming year. Choosing the composition of the flu vaccine is nothing more than an educated guess made by public health experts.

Dangerous additives in Flu Vaccines

Many people who take the flu vaccine do not experience any noticeable short term side effects. However, a number of short term side effects have been reported which include muscle pain, respiratory tract infections, eye problems, abnormal blood pressure, asthma, hives and gastrointestinal problems. The more subtle, long term effects, affect everyone. According to renowned immunogeneticist Hugh Fudenberg, people who have had five flu shots over a ten year period, have increase their risk of getting Alzheimer's disease ten times. The reason being that the flu vaccine contains aluminum and mercury. As these heavy metals gradually build up in the brain they cause difficulty in multitasking, trouble with arithmetic, difficulty with thinking and language skills and memory loss. As a result of flu vaccinations the cases of Alzheimer's is expected to quadruple. Another toxic ingredient found in the flu vaccine is formaldehyde, which is known to cause cancer.

Build a Strong Immune System to Stay Healthy During Flu Season

Have you ever known anyone who never seems to get sick? The reason is because they have a strong immune system. These individuals don’t have to be the only ones who rarely get sick. Anyone can build a strong, healthy immune system. This requires a plenty of exercise, sleep and a healthy high-alkaline diet which has all the daily requirements of key vitamins and minerals that allow the body to defend against viruses. The most important nutrients for the immune system are Vitamin A from beta carotene(10,000 IU/day), vitamin C(1000 mg/day), B6(100 mg/day), B12 (2000 mcg/day), kyolic garlic(2 tablets three times per day and Zinc(50 mg/day). Nutrients with powerful antiviral and immune system strengthening ability are astragalus and propolis which can safely be taken year round.

Conclusion

Getting a flu shot may seem like the convenient, easy solution. Unfortunately, it is rarely effective and there are a number of possible short term side effects and due to toxic additives, the risk of certain diseases is multiplied. Eating healthy, getting plenty of rest and exercise on a daily basis, will build a strong immune system able to make frequent battles with the flu a thing of the past.

I have never had the flu and will not accept the flu shots, either -- There's a chicken/egg allergy that runs in my heritage and I won't take a chance with vaccines incubated - or whatever - in chicken eggs. So I'll avoid all those side effects. Thanks!

I have always had bad reactions to the flu shot so I stopped getting it 4 years ago. I take the natural remedies like vit c, garlic, cranberry pills, billberry is very good too. When I feel a virus coming on, if I take 1 billberry pill right at onset I get a much weaker case of flu, drink plenty of fluids and eat good. Chicken noodle soup is no myth. It works like a charm. I haven't had any complications from flu for 4 years and going strong!

Very interesting information! I am one of those people who doesn't get sick and has never had an antiboitic in my life, etc. Because I travel often, I am often urged to get a flu shot. I always wondered about it and was glad to read your hub to get better clarity. Thank you for sharing!

I always wondered about the flu shot don't get them. I got the flu one year after getting the flu shot, so I knew it was bs but didn't know why. I figured it was better to build up immunites to it rather than avoid them altogether and take my chances that way.

On the other hand I got the flu twice last year but I was also under a lot of stess, so, I think you article is accurate.

I do wadger back and forth as to whether or not I should get my kid a flu shot, but as it turned out, when last year I got it twice, she was healthy as a horse.

Great hub!

Steve,

I agree with want you said in your article. I believe that getting the shot doesn't prevent you from the flu. In many cases it helps you get the flu. I think putting the vaccines is the wrong thing to do. The one time in 1982 I take the shot and boy I was sicker then a dog. I haven't since then and I have been fine during the flu season. And if there is something wrong with me. I believe in Natural Cures and this does it for me. Thanks

Very interesting article. I personally haven't had a flu vaccine in over 5 years and the last time I did, I got really sick after it. Personally, I try to eat a lot of fruits and exercise, which seems to work pretty well. I didn't know about Vitamin A being so important.

Excellent. I won't do the flu shot, and I rarely get sick. If I get a cold, I just rest and drink my liquids and get over it in a few days. I am diligent about keeping my immune system strong. People can be incredibly empowered to manage their own health if they will accept that responsibility. :) Suzanne

I've had the shot twice. Never got the flu then or during the times I didn't take it. Though this year was close, my 12 year old got it but no one else did.

I do not believe any vaccinationsare beneficial. All 4 of my kids had very bad reactions to the few they had. I believe there is so much autism these days because of generations of vaccinations.

Prevention by proper living is the best key.

I have not had an antibiotic, or any shots since I was around 17 or earlier. I'm now in my 50's. You can live without big pharma.

Legally, you do not have to poison yourself or your children. There are valid waivers.

I used to take the flu jab regularly each year as I had an immune system problem, still got the flu though. The last 2 years I haven't bothered and guess what, no flu. Not very scientific but interesting I think.

Very eye opening information I must say. I researched the non-effectiveness of the flu vaccination when my former employer insisted that everybody in the company get it, and even brought in a nurse to administer the vaccine to all employees that wanted it. Based on the potential side effects, and the likelyhood of the vaccine being ineffective, I opted ot to get it.

I am a big believer in natural and homeopathic remedies, so when flu season comes around I break out the eccinasia and chamomile tea, vitamin C, etc. I have not much trouble with the flu, nor do my children. I do, however, believe that public schools are the single biggest incubator of viruses... yet another reason to consider home schooling.

I got the flu shot after 38 years of not having it, my doctor recomended it. I have been sick twice in three months since then, fever, sore throat, chills, really sick.

I will never again have it. Last year I was healthy, no shot, but this year has been bad.

I agree wholeheartedly that there are better ways to keep yourself healthy than allow your body to be injected with a chemical cocktail. While the shot *may* be affective against the flu, what are the long term consequences of thimerosol, aluminum, foreign DNA, formaldehyde and other substances being injected directly into your body, bypassing your immune system's first line of defense?

Keep spreading the word on vaccines! ;-)

Great hub! I totally agree that alkaline diet is the better option compared to synthetic drugs. I've been into synthetic drugs to "control" my asthma, but since I made the big switch to alkaline foods (upon the recommendation of a friend), my asthma completely disappeared. I guess doctors won't prescribe this since it might mean them switching to another profession!

Cheers!

I have a compromised immune system but never have colds or flu. 18 months ago I relented and had my first flu shot after constant offers from my GP. I immediately contracted a chest infection and fever which took 2 sessions of antibiotics to clear and I have been unwell ever since; assailed by, sometimes 'mysterious',painful neurological symptoms, skin problems etc............... I'm currently waiting for an appointment to see a neurologist. I have absolutely no doubt the vaccination contributed to my ill health. I eat very healthily and take regular exercise - & I'm not health obsessed or at least wasn't until now!

I find it interesting that you don't provide and citations for your article?

Lots of 'facts', but where did you get them from?

Jacquelyn  says:

The Flu, in fact, CANNOT be caused by many different viruses. It is caused by the influenza virus alone. Perhaps you meant to say DIFFERENT strains of this virus (These strains occur due to antigenic shift-which is what happend with the 2009 H1N1 but is a RARE occurrence...and antigenic drift- which are slow changes in the virus as it replicates. For the strain to change enough that it is a new strain can take years!)

Anyway, another point I want to make is to those who made comments above. There is a difference between the flu, and 'flu-like symptoms'.

When a physician diagnosis you with 'the flu', it is more technically, an ILI (influernza-like-virus). There are many viruses that can cause flu-like symptoms. Only 14.1% (YES! 14.1%!!) during a NON-epidemic flu season are actually CONFIRMED cases of influenza.

SO, for those of you who say you got the FLU after the FLU shot, you were most likely suffering from an ILI, NOT the influenza virus.

Thanks for this post. I tend to believe that the flu shot is nothing more than media hype and scare. I have had one flu shot in my life and ironically enough it was the only time I've ever gotten the flu. I was sick for weeks.
