Spiritual awaking and enlightenment looks to be part of spiritual exercises.  Spiritual awaking is a religious experience where the individual who is enlightened reach with the divine and supernatural.  It has been part of different customs and practices, embracing different faiths.

Enlightenment is subjective since it fits on the individual’s perceptual experience and understanding divinity and religion.  It is also something which other people who don't share the equivalent aspects could find different and sometimes frightening.  Even though, different faiths have different seeing of the divine and supreme being, awaking experiences appear to have commonalities, besides as their differences. 

Different faiths and traditions share that spiritual awakening and other spiritual experiences admits the person to detach from the world and unite with God or gods and goddesses.  The individual would accept deeper connection to the world after the awakening.  They would as well achieve natural cognition and realising of the world and others.

Spiritual awakenings are not only lived through religious actions and techniques.  It can also be felt through peak feels, life-or-death experiences and situations, psychical openings and past life experience.  Those who have awakened would say that they would feel physical, mental, emotional and spiritual alterations and difficultnesses.  But the awakening, even with its agitation and difficultness, has bee called happy by a lot of people.

It's a individual transformation and the awakened can live different changes on their activities, habits and way of life. 

William James in The Varieties of Religious Experience, tells that a spiritual awaking adds foregone conclusion and perceptivity to truth which is incomprehensible by common sensory and intellectual means.  The experience can convert the external behaviour, attitude, character and mentality of the individual who have got the awakening.

For instance, people who experience a spiritual awakening would receive explosive waves of emotions.  Food intolerances and allergies arise after the spiritual experience. A few customs say that because the human mind and body is opening to the divine and the spiritual, it acquires more sensible.  Acquiring more sensible means that your body can have lower tolerance level to a few things likened to how it was prior to the spiritual travel and culmination. 

The senses are in a high and can be extra-sensitive.  Enlightened people would  see auras around living things and a few glittery atoms.  The colours would appear more bright and even see shapes and brilliant colors with eyes closed. Hearing is also acuter than before.  But some would testify that they would receive a diminution in hearing because they would hear another kind of sounds and have difficultness discovering the different sounds. 

Aroma, taste and touch are also increased.  Which is why, some would be sensitive with food and smell.  Efflorescences can happen on the skin that can happen in the same time with remedial seconds or completion of some memories or anything that could have happened in the past.

On that point would also be moments when the awakened individual would experience a explosive rush of ability.  A few people would say that they would experience hotness running from their head to toe, although there are other people who would say the feeling was cold. 

Just to focus on the point, the transformation that a person experiences upon a spiritual awaking depends on the how they see and realize divinity and religious belief.  Not all of these personal transformations could happen to everyone who has got enlightenment. In a few religion, some of these transformations are not accepted while different traditions and religions would foresee these transformation crucial.
