Movies are diverse as music. They tingle your senses and entertainment you. But with the mass amount of movies out there, the possibilities of finding a great movie that you'll love no matter what kind of mood you're in.

I personally like to watch a whole sling of different genres depending on my mood from comedy to independent films. I've compiled a list of movies that I think you just have to see and categorized in their respective categories. Enjoy!

Drama

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

This movie is awesome. After the murder of his wife, hotshot banker Andrew Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is sent to Shawshank Prison, where the usual unpleasantness occurs. Over the years, he retains hope and eventually gains the respect of his fellow inmates, especially longtime convict "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman), a black marketeer, and becomes influential within the prison. If you haven't seen this movie yet then it's time that you pick it up.

Sunset Blvd (1950)

This movie is a classic. Obscure screenplay writer Joe Gillis(William Holden) is not able to sell his work to the studios, is full of debts and is thinking in returning to his hometown to work in an office. While trying to escape from his creditors, he has a flat tire and parks his car in a decadent mansion in Sunset Boulevard. He meets the owner and former silent-movie star Norma Desmond(Gloria Swanson). Norma is demented and believes she will return to the cinema industry but is protected from the world by Max(Erich von Stroheim), who was her director and husband in the past and still loves her. Norma proposes Joe to move to the mansion and help her in writing a screenplay for her comeback to the cinema, and the small-time writer becomes her lover and gigolo. When Joe falls in love for the young aspirant writer Betty Schaefer(Nancy Olson), Norma becomes jealous and completely insane and her madness leads to a tragic end.

Amerian Beauty (1999)

Lester Burnham(Kevin Spacey) has the most perfect wife, family and house in the perfect suburban neighboorhood or it so it seems. Burnham beings fall into a downward spiral of depression caused by his overworking wife Carolyn(Annette Benning), uncaring and rebellious daughter Jane(Thora Birch) and not to mention a dead end job that makes him unhappy. Lester snaps himself back on the right track thanks to Jane's slutty friend Angela(Mena Suvari) who he is infatuated with. Jane builds a relationship with the boy next door, Ricky(Wes Bentley), whos broken family helps him keep a strong with her. All chaos ensues. It's a dark dramedy. It was a great movie and I highly recommend it.

The Godfather

This is movie is definitely a must see. It's Marlon Brando in one of his greatest films ever. The story begins as "Don" Vito Corleone(Marlon Brando), the head of a New York Mafia "family", oversees his daughter's wedding. His beloved son Michael(Al Pacino) has just come home from the war, but does not intend to become part of his father's business. Through Michael's life the nature of the family business becomes clear. The business of the family is just like the head of the family, kind and benevolent to those who give respect, but given to ruthless violence whenever anything stands against the good of the family. Don Vito lives his life in the way of the old country, but times are changing and some don't want to follow the old ways and look out for community and "family". An up and coming rival of the Corleone family wants to start selling drugs in New York, and needs the Don's influence to further his plan. The clash of the Don's fading old world values and the new ways will demand a terrible price, especially from Michael, all for the sake of the family.

Shaun of the Dead

In & Out

Little Miss Sunshine

Comedy

There are times when we need to tickle our funny. I know that I like a good laugh every now and again. Here are my picks for comedy and don't forget to check out some the clips!

Shaun of the Dead

I'm not one for liking zombie flicks like "Night of the Living Dead" or "Dawn of the Dead" but if you put Simon Pegg in the center of it, you can bet your bottom that it will make for a film. Pegg plays your typical retail drown in a normal English town. His town is slowly being taken over by zombies similary to the plot of "Dawn of the Dead" but only funnier. This unlikely hero pulls together with the help of his friends to survive the walking dead. It's an English comedy but I think you'll enjoy it.

Mystery Men

William H. Macy, Hank Azaria and Jeanne Garafalo at their best. In short it's a band of unlikely heros going up against villian Geoffery Rush. There are so many familiar faces in this movie you can't help but love it. In order to generate more endorsement revenue, Champion City's resident superhero Captain Amazing arranges for the release of supervillian Casanova Frankenstein, only to be captured by him. The city's fate rests in the hands of seven loser superhero wannabes: the fork-flinging Blue Raja, the shovel-wielding Shoveler, the posessed bowling ball-hurling Bowler, the flatulent Spleen, the only-when-nobody's-looking Invisible Boy, the mysterious Sphinx, and the perpetually-angry Mr. Furious. With names like these, it has to be funny.

In and Out

I am a big Kevin Kline fan. He's pretty much funny in about everything he does. I guess it's versitility as an actor. In this flick he plays a high school Literature teacher and athletic coach. On the night of the Academy Awards, his former student and famous actor, Cameron Drake thanks his mentor for helping capture the essence of his role a gay soldier by say that Kline is gay. All hilarity ensues. Tom Selleck and Joan Cusack co-star in this film about finding your true identity. It's so funny you have to see it.

Little Miss Sunshine

Abigail Breslin captured my heart in this movie. She plays a young who is convinced she is beauty queen material, parents Richard (Greg Kinnear) and Sheryl (Toni Collette) and the rest of the family embark on a life-altering road trip to a pageant in this madcap comedy. Struggling motivational speaker Richard pushes Olive to win, while her silent brother (Paul Dano), depressed uncle (Steve Carell) and nursing-home reject grandpa (Alan Arkin, in an Oscar-winning role) add their own quirks to the mix. God this movie was good and I had my doubts a first.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

What do you gambling, weed and the sex industry have in common? This movie and it's much better then it's American predecessor Snatch. Eddie (Nick Moran) is usually slick with a deck of cards, but after losing at a fixed table for London high rollers, he's in massive debt to a local porn kingpin (P.H. Moriarty). Eddie's irate father (Sting) refuses to hand over his bar to save his son's fingers, leaving Eddie and his friends few options. To come out ahead, they craft a heist to steal the money from the criminals next door -- with overblown results. What more can you ask for?

Action/Adventure

Everyone loves a good action movie. I know I do even if is filled with a bit of humor. Here are a few of my favorites that I hope you'll enjoy.

Indiana Jones (All)

Harrison Ford was not only great as Han Solo but also as advernturer and professor of Archaeology, Indiana Jones. This 80's classic action film won my heart not just because Ford is a fox but because back in the 80's that's when movies were great and they had originality and this include Indiana Jones. The plot is different with each film that is made including the new one(which I'm going to go see). But you can bet that there is going to be lots of adventure to keep you entertained.

The Pirates of Carribean (All)

Now, I know that there are many ladies that love Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom but they are not why I love this series. It's the comedy and the adventure. Or maybe it's the fact that Jerry Bruckheimer was the producer. He is amazing. Anything he puts out is awesome. This swahsbuckling tale takes you a journey across the high seas with tales of love, treasure, debt, betrayal and just plain fun. And if you're a Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom fan, then you should definitely come and see

Sin City

This move was done with the help of the wonderful Frank Miller and not to mention an all-star cast including Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Bencio del Toro and Rosario Dawson to name a few. If you're looking for a dark and action packed movie then this is it. It's got a bit of everything: action, adventure, sex, betrayal and survival. This is not too over the top. I would check it out.

Casino Royale

I am a big James Bond fan especially with the ever so lovely Daniel Craig. He is the new Bond to join the ranks of Bonds. He's funny, charm and oh so handsome as should anyone be who plays the dashing 007. This is the movie where Bond gets his start as a 007. He's is learning the lesson of being an agent and all it entails. He's funny, charming and just lots of fun. I would give it a look and I'm anxiously waiting to see more of his Bond flixs.
