The Wall and The Phoenix

The Wall
I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see. The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall.
And with each passing day I feel a little more like something dear was lost...
It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between all I am, and all that I would ever want to be.
It's just a travesty, towering, marking off the boundaries my spirit would erase.
To pass beyond is what I seek - I fear that I may be too weak, and those are few who've seen it through to glimpse the other side.
The promised land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride.
The moment is a masterpiece - the weight of indecision's in the air. Standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me.
Towering, blocking out the light and blinding me. I want to see ...
Gold and diamonds cast a spell. It's not for me, I know it well. The riches that I seek are waiting on the other side.
There's more than I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find.
And though it's always there with me, I must tear down the wall and let it be ... all I am, and all that I was ever meant to be - in harmony.
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross.
There is no loss!

the poet cometh! vivid and strong images of and from the psyche. and with a touch of myth too. nice stuff. you rock! :D
-Thank you, Benson.
-Thanks Cris, and I wish I could claim the credit, but it was written by Kansas. I've loved the song for close to 30 years (wow, that's a long time!), but it now fits perfectly (so perfectly it was scary!) with my current circumstance.
okay. let me get this straight. it's the song's (in the video) lyrics?
Yep. It's part of the series "Story Tellers of Epic Rock."
This one just happens to be very personal ... I could have easily written this at this time in my life.
The actual title is "The Wall."
okay, i guess your taste in music rocks then! LOL actually i though about it before i commented but the video's title didn't include "the phoenix" so I assumed it is actually a poem inspired by the song. but what the heck, right? :D
Ha-ha. It was weird, "The Wall" was already published by another hubber (don't know who) so I added "and The Phoenix" which was more accurate in what I was trying to say...
Fate.
...which you can't fight! LOL and cleverness on your part of course.
It just started to rain. I was waiting for it to come the whole day. it was mostly cloudy but you can't believe the heat! but i guessed right that it would rain! ha! BRB gotta sip and puff! :D
... but of course ;-)
It's raining here ... STILL! I would love a little heat. It's finally warming up to the mid 50s.
Sounds good. Me too!
the rain didn't last long. it just said hello and goodbye. i wasn't done with the first stick when it abated. at least its much cooler now.
I love Summer rain!
Its fun to see the words, especially when they are hard to make out in a song. Thanks for doing this series.
You're very welcome, Patricia. Readers like you give the series validation.
Thank YOU.
Nice interesting music. Btw congrats for being interviewed by hub pages. It was really a good interview and hope you are keeping good health.
what interview?! where?! why?! when?! oh i know the who and i think i have an idea on the how
Haven't seen you in a bit, CW2. I've missed you! Thanks, and yes I am. How about you?
(PS: I'm still on the lookout for a cute Asian butt with your name on it for "Naked Hubbers")
-Cris. Check your email. Funnebone interviewed me for Weekly Featured Hubber. Cool, eh?
Glad I caught you two before heading out. See you in the morning - hot date!!
just did. nada. maybe you can forward it to me?
But they tore the wall down....G-Ma :O) Hugs
The wall exists, some are barriers, some are challanges, some led us to Utopia, some to the otherside.
Got me rambling great hub,
Congrats on being The Man, or should I say Hubber.
-Cris. Just sent it to you. Don't you get that automatically from HP? You should.
-G-Ma, that's The Phoenix part.
-Rodney, I recognize that - I think. Is it from a song? And thanks.
Great insight. congratulations on being selected as this week's featured hubber. Well deserved. Hub on!
Thank you, Sixty.
This song was written back in the late 70's. Kansas, in their prime, did the most intelligent and mature rock anywhere. They were the best possible influence for a young musician.
Got it and read it! Thanks for the mention :D
CW, I had never heard that song before. I am glad that you listed the lyrics. It's really sad that there really aren't many singer/songwriters like their used to be. Now if people don't have a certain look even though they may have the talent they don't get their chance to go mainstream. I guess it really is true that video killed the radio star.
-Cris, Cool - and you're welcome.
That's true, Gwendy, Kansas made very few videos. They were more concerned with making good songs and doing good shows. But, there ARE still good bands making it in a music industry which seems to fight them all the way: Dave Matthews, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. They're there, you've just got to be willing to wade through all the crap to find them.
But, hasn't it always been that way?
I'm glad you liked The Wall. The album/CD is full of equally awesome songs.
Hi CW In my property hub I have listed songs that grabbed me over the years. Yea I know it is a property hub but tell me what you think of the tunes I have listed at diffrent times in my life if you have the time.
Hi Sixty, will do. Don't know when though. It's been a busy morning. More than the usual updating on Numerous Fragments, got to run Anti-Spyware updates to keep fookin' Conficker away (check out the story if you are unaware - on Numerous Fragments. Important!).. and I still haven't worked out.
Doh!
CW I loved this hub from you.It just felt really different to the others I have read from you, great song. Thumbs up from me (hugs)
Thanks BP. I've loved this song for a very long time, and suddenly - at this time in my life - the lyrics are really hitting home.
