By Bob Woodward

Publishing giant Simon & Schuster seems to be confident that the forthcoming investigative work on the Bush administration by Bob Woodward will be a bestseller. Titled "The War Within: A Secret White House History 2006-2008" is set to have an intial print run of 900,000 copies. Kept under strict embargo, the latest book by Woodward will be officially published on September 8th, this year. This is Woodward's fourth book on the Bush years.

His all three earlier works on the Bush years were No. 1 best sellers on The New York Times hardcover nonfiction list. While "Bush at War" had a positive take, "State of Denial" which came out in 2006, was of a more critical view of things.

According to Alice Mayhew - Woodwards editor, this is the declassification of what went on in secret, behind the scenes. "There has not been such an authoritative and intimate account of presidential decision making since the Nixon tapes and the Pentagon Papers."

The War Within will take the reader to the interiors of White House, the Pentagon, the intelligence agencies, the State Department, and the U.S. military headquarters in Iraq. According to the publishers this work was completed only a few weeks ago and is based on extensive interviews with participants, contemporaneous notes and secret documents. The book traces the internal debates, tensions and critical turning points in the Iraq War during 2006-2008.

In the 1970s, this Pulitzer winning reporter contributed to the groundbreaking stories of the Watergate scandal that helped bring down President Nixon. Woodward is currently working as an associate editor on The Washington Post, and has co-authored two bestsellers, "All the President's Men" and "The Final Days" with Carl Bernstein.

The Viacom owned company, CBS will be running an interview with the author on 7th evening on the '60 minutes' slot. Earlier in the morning The Washington Post will be coming out with excerpts from the book "The War Within: A Secret White House History 2006-2008".

The suspense is getting to me too. I wish the book will be released in India soon. Must really be an interesting read.

Dear Sun Seven: I am ecstatic that you are reviewing books!!!! The Watergate Affair played a big part in my young adulthood. Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein were responsible for the journalism that blew open the dirty tricks of the Republican Party during the Nixon election. Great Hub!!!! Best Regards, Cory

I didn't know about this forthcoming book, so thanks for the notification - will look out for it (not here yet either). Bob Woodward holds a lot of political weight but it doesn't take a genius to suspect that there have been all kinds of subversive fiscal and political issues in the Iraq/Afganistan US-led war.

My thought are with those unfortunate soldiers being maimed and killed, as well as the mostly innocent Iraq civilians.

I enjoyed your review and will be looking to buy this book when it comes out. Great job, and I hope you do more along this line! I will be critiquing the Scott McClellan book "What Happened" in an upcoming hub.

Wow  the suspense is killing me, I hope it's worth the wait. If you haven't pre-ordered your copy to yet I highly recommend it. If Mr. Woodwards last books on the Bush Administration were any indication I know this one will take the cake.
