Are the Liberal Democrats serious about pursuing criminal charges against our country’s CIA operatives who utilized enhanced techniques to extract information from known terrorists? This is in regard to the extent that water boarding was used in order to gain information that would prevent further attacks against us and on our own soil. Allegedly, in addition to water boarding, threats were made against the captives family and in one case a drill was held to a prisoners head. No one’s family was harmed and no one had a hole put in their head. They were threats made with the intent to get the prisoner to reveal information about terrorist plots against the United States.

First of all, the practice of water boarding was an allowable technique. Some have argued that it is in fact torture. However after watching Daniel Pearl beheaded live while screaming and gurgling in his own blood while his captors chanted and laughed, I hardly think water boarding can be considered in the same class as this heinous example of torture.

It is not possible to drown while water boarding is being administered. It is not harmful in any way other than psychologically. The psychological effects are short lived and after several applications it is deemed an ineffective method because the prisoner eventually comes to the realization that this method does not hurt and they are not going to drown.

As for the threats of violence against their families and the possibility of the drill-they were threats, they were not carried out. How is this any different than telling a suspect if they do not talk, they might never see the light of day again? How is this any different than threatening anyone with consequences when they have done something wrong or know about a situation that had or may lead to harm?

When classified documents were released last April, based on the Justice Department’s findings, Barrack Hussein Obama claimed that no prosecutions were warranted and that we were to look up and look forward, not back. Are the Liberal Democrats seriously considering prosecuting certain CIA officers who were acting in the best interest of National Security? Are they really going to try to send someone to prison for holding a drill during an interrogation? Why now and not last April?

One of the techniques I learned in child care was ‘redirection’. When a child is behaving badly or doing something the caregiver believes they should not be doing, one of the most effective ways to get them to stop is to redirect. That is exactly what the Obama Administration and the Liberal Democrats are doing here. They are attempting to shift the focus off of the real issues facing our country such as the economy and healthcare reform.

According to the Washington Post this morning, 8/25/09, the information extracted undoubtedly prevented further attacks. It saved American lives. For me personally, any method the CIA might have used was justified in order to save American lives. No prisoners were killed, no one was harmed. They were scared. Invoking fear to prevent further action was completely justified and necessary in this instance. We are safer today because of the methods used to prevent further attacks on America. Period.

The economy is still in shambles. The healthcare reform Barack Hussein Obama is pushing still stinks. Homes are still being foreclosed on and people are still losing jobs. Don’t fall for their banana in the tail pipe! Do not allow the Liberal Democrats to redirect our focus from the shortfalls of this Administration and the real issues at hand.

They have given the biased media something else to focus on besides disruptive Town Hall Meetings and opposition to the healthcare reform, Barack Hussein Obama's falling approval rating and the current state of the economy. Political redirection at it's best.
