More on the water fueled car
Can we drive a car on water?
The water fueled car is an old story, through the decades there have been rumors about people who knew the secret to this "philosopher's stone". Usually these stories were a smorgasbord of popular science and conspiracy theories.
Why Water as Energy Source is not so Strange
Still converting water into energy has theoretical possibilities. Water is the combination of 2 hydrogen molecules and one Oxygen molecule, that form H2O. H2 or nitrogen gas mixed with O2 is a higly explosive mixture.
As a boy I made my own HHO plant
As a boy I experimented with this by running an electrical current through distilled water with an added electrolyte. The result is a reaction that releases the Hydrogen and Oxygen. Because of the chemical composition of water we will get twice as much Nitrogen as Oxygen.
Double Trouble
Mixing the two could give your mother a hell of a scare plus cause a lot added trouble. The BOOEEFFF of the explosion was such that the tube I used banged right through the window into the neighbors lawn. But here we have the principle behind the water fueled car.
Let me Explain the working of my Oxy-Hydrogen plant
The production of the gas to run a car on is dead simple. Take two electrodes; the material is not of major concern since it's only an experiment. I used graphite electrodes from old batteries. That worked fine.
Fill a bowl with distilled water and add some acid as electrolyte. Place the two electrodes at opposite ends of the bowl and apply an electric current. Some sulfuric acid works best but most acid like substances will do.
The purpose is to allow electrons move from one electrode (cathode) to the other (anode). When you add a DC power source to the electrodes you will see bubbles of H2 rising from the cathode and O2 from the anode.
Hydrogen and Oxygen are bubbling up in no time
Because water or H2O consists of two H2 molecules and one O2 we will generate twice the amount of hydrogen as of oxygen.
Mix the two and you have an explosive gas that can be used to run cars, make torches or get problems with family members.
The beauty of it is that this ignition, explosion or combustion (depending on how you look at it) produces H2O or fuel running out your exhaust pipe.
The fundamentals of the water driven car
The car on water principle is making a lot of upheaval about the HHO gas they employ. HHO is a mixture of H2 (hydrogen) and O2 (oxygen) usually mixed in the 2:1 ratio. And that is exactly what we made in our experiment.
HHO - Magic or just a gas?
This Oxy-Hydrogen gas as it is called can be added to fuel injection in our cars combustion chambers or cylinders. Since the HHO gas mixture will auto ignites at about 1000F the end result could be an increase in fuel efficiency and a better and more efficient combustion process.
Of course this is a very simplified model of a real implementation and no doubt electrolysers; bubble's etc will be more sophisticated. The blueprint of the Jet Engine was kids stuff compared to the engines in use today, but the underlying fundamentals remain the same.
But is it efficient?
In case of our water driven car there is one problem that worries me, and that is that in principle the amount of energy needed to generate the HHO gas exceeds the power is produces we ignite it. This is the logic consequence of the fact that converting one energy form into another always causes a loss. In this case however we need gasoline to produce the electricity need for our Oxyhydrogen generator.
Energy Conversion Loss
We need fuel to produce this extra "miracle fuel" and the production costs more than the product. In business this model is doomed. It is possible that the overall efficiency of the engine is enough to overcome that obstacle. Or that there really is miracle forces at work. Ones that will come clear once I buy the product.
For me the jury is still out - It is not impossible
So can we dump a few gallons of water in our tank and laugh when we see a petrol station on our way to the bank? Well to be honest, for me the jury is still out.
Reasoning from my present knowledge I say no. But then when I was thinking about an airplane in 1910 I would also come to that conclusion. So if the water fueled car is fact or fiction.

I think it's just great that we have the capacity to utilize fundamental elements-mix them all up and come up with different sources of power for propellents. It doesn't seem fake or far fetched to me (electrical engineer student) because it's inevitable - atoms are the building blocks of ALL matter.
Too bad our automotive infrastructure is milking oil for everything it's worth when 70.8% of matter on this planet is H20.. Nice hub!

I agree with you 100%. What worries me a little is the amount of "hoax" products on the market. There is no magical cure, you can't produce energy out of "nothing". On the internet you find a lot of hyped up products that suggest that when you apply the energy of your running engine as the source for H2 O2 production your car will almost run indefenitely. There are a lot of things to be researched and things like "Tesla's coil":can have possibilities. But energy conversion means energy loss...I think, believe, thought, wondered :-)

Nothing new under the sun if I understand you correctly. Perhaps you can tell us more about the options you DO see in this field. I mean what are in your opinion really viable options?
