The Wedding Guru
63Planning a Wedding? Can you match my budget?
$10,000 dollars for my wedding. I had 54 guests, outdoor wedding, out of town (out of country), flowers out of season and our dress and tux were 20% of the budget and our reception with 54 Swedish guests had an open bar. Its amazing what you can do with a little ingenuity!
Our wedding took place in Sweden, where I live now, in a small town to the north. My wedding cost a grand total of $10,000 which may seem like a lot to some, but anyone planning a wedding will realize exactly how much money this should have cost.
The average wedding costs $25,000. This sum is ridiculous to me. I had what every bride dreams of in a country with a 25% tax rate at less than half that. If I was in the States, my wedding would have cost around $6,000.
Simple ideas like buying your wedding dress online can save hundreds of dollars. I found my dress for less than 1/2 what bridal shops were charging because I was willing to call around the US.The calls, btw, cost me about $30 total.
Our flowers, Calla Lilly, were out of season in July, but I got them at a discount price because I went to a local small dealer and spoke directly to the owner. Such a huge difference bringing that kind of business to a small business owner. Be careful as some small business owners cannot make better deals.
