72Here are the current Fastest Production Cars listed from fastest to slowest(!!). Excerpted from the VCars list. Only PRODUCTION Cars are listed, so no Lingenfelter Corvette. Some lucky bastards only who even dont know how to spell 'torque' gets to own these. Since most of us can never own one, so just watch the dream cars. *sigh*

1. SSC Ultimate Aero
Top Speed: 257 mph 0-60: 2.7 sec. Engine: V8 Twin Turbo 1183hp Price: $654.4k
In march 2007, this became the world's fastest car beating Bugatti Veyron, recorded by the Guiness World Records. Astonishing, if you consider the fact that it only got a Twin Turbo V8 engine, almost half of the turbo count of the Veyron.
2. Bugatti Veyron
Top Speed: 253 mph 0-60: 2.5 sec Engine: Aluminium W16 1001 hp Price: $1444k
With the highest price tag, and being one of the most powerful production cars ever made, this beast comes at no.2.
3. Koenigsegg CCX
Top Speed: 250 mph 0-60: 3.2 sec Engine: 90 degree V8 806 hp Price: $695k
Made in Sweden, this car is expected to steal away the no.1 spot in the future. They are currently working on a more improved version. Keep your eyes open. One of my favourites.
4. Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo
Top Speed: 248 mph 0-60: 3.2 sec Engine: V8 Twin Turbo all aluminium 750 hp Price: $555k
The popular Mustang Tuner, Saleen, got their name big in the industry with this beauty. A smooth bad-ass.
5. McLaren F1
Top Speed: 240 mph 0-60: 3.2 sec Engine: BMW S70/2 60 degree V12 627 hp Price: $970k
Made in 1994, it still makes the top-list after 14 years. The most amazing car in the list, and one of the best cars ever made (not only by speed). My favourite car; dream about owning one some day.
6. Ferrari Enzo
Top Speed: 217 mph 0-60: 3.4 sec Engine: F140 V12 aluminium 660 hp Price: $670k
Only 399 ever produced, this is the fastest Ferrari. Each time a car crashes, the price goes high. There are evidences of these cars to be sold $670k new, and immediately sold for $1.3 million a piece. Wonder, even the richest can't own one of these if they wish.
7. Jaguar XJ220
Top Speed: 217 mph 0-60: 4.0 sec Engine: Twin Turbo V6 542 hp Price: $345k
Even older than the McLaren F1, this car was made in 1992. It still has got what it takes to make the list!
8. Pagani Zonda F
Top Speed: 215 mph 0-60: 3.5 sec Engine: Mercedes Benz M180 V12 650 hp Price: $741k
This is not all Pagani has got in the bag. Currently working on the Zonda R, Pagani is sure to climb up the list with their next supercar.
9. Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
Top Speed: 213 mph 0-60: 3.3 sec Engine: V12 640 hp Price: $ 430k
Awesome design, a beautiful piece of art. Very round and smooth, the look itself claims the car to be one of the fastest. Another that makes my personal favourite list.
10.Porsche Carrera GT
Top Speed: 209 mph 0-60: 3.9 sec Engine: 68 degree V10 aluminium 612 hp Price: $440k
The most attractive, fastest and expensive Porsche ever made makes at no.10.
You must keep an eye on the next threateners for the list. Zonda R is next to come, Koenigsegg CCX is meant to be upgraded, and McLaren might make a decision on their next project.

Great list...I love every car on there....but how about some love for the new technology cars like the Tesla and the Ariel Atom?
