The Worst Date I Ever Experienced

The Worst Date EVER!
When I was eighteen I went on a number of less than desirable dates, but one in particular always springs to mind when I consider the worst. The guy was nice enough, but seriously dampened my enthusiasm on dating to the point that when my "Mr. Right" came along it was more of an impromptu courtship situation. However, my worst date experience, bless him, was with a guy named Bill.
Bill and I had been friends from childhood, and honestly he'd never shown any interest in me whatsoever. Our mothers were best friends, we saw each other every week in church and would hang out at youth group a little bit, but it never even occured to me he would ask me out. I was never asked out in High School, but after graduation, I suddenly had an abundance of invitations. The majority of requests was from male friends from church. I wasn't necessarily interested in any of them, but I decided it would be fun to go out with each of them at least once. Oddly enough they all took me to the same movie that Summer...Rocky 3.
Seriously.
So I went out on a date with each one of these freinds. The problem with the date with Bill, however, began when he picked me up. He was dressed as if he were trying to give John Travolta a run for his money in Saturday Night Fever. Silk type shirt opened to the navel, a gold chain glistening on his bare chest, oversized stomache poking out of the fabric.
Not exactly appealing. I think it was during the movie and he tried the old "yawn and reach the arm over the shoulders" bit when I began wondering what crazy person had taken possession of my friend and turned him into...well...whatever it was he was trying to be. The final nail in the proverbial date coffin, however, was when we arrived at McDonalds for dinner after the movie and he could have rivaled a pig, shoveling and snorting as food was pushed into his mouth. I was so grossed out I couldn't even eat my own meal.
Needless to say when he suggested we go do something else, since it was still fairly early in the evening, I declined and asked him to take me home immediately.
I had to wash my hair.
We never went on another date, but did some how manage to continue a fairly decent friendship, and he attended my wedding four years later with his own fiance. Alls well that ends well...thank God!

Oh no! Dating is such a traumatic event...lol. I don't know why but perfectly normal people can turn into bumbling idiots when trying to impress someone. Thanks for the great request!
Sounds like a pretty awful experience! Thanks for sharing. Gotta love how bad dates at least give us something to laugh about with our girlfriends! :)

Sounds so oddly familiar!! great hub and thanks for answering. I too just dated guys from my church and was in love with the preachers son for years. When he was finally ready to ask me out, I was dating someone, (he waited 8 years to look at me) very long story after that but our worse date was when we went to see "red dawn" at the ticket counter all of my other friends (the one out of church and thought he as a geek) were standing behind us. He asked for two tickets to the "red barn" i almost died. I cried the rest of the evening, told em I was sick and called in and unforgettable disappointing and embarrassing date.
