The Zune- A Review Of The Microsoft Answer to The Apple iPod Player
54A Zune 30GB and an iPod
I have recently purchased a 30GB zune player and I'm enjoying it very much.
Here are my conclusions after a few months of use:
There are four sorts of Zunes: 4GB/ 8GB/ 30GB/ 80GB - If you are a music lover I would recommend no less than 30GB- the other's are simply too small.
The player is very intuative and easy to use requiring no prior knowledge.
You can find great deals on eBay - I bought my player a few months ago for 190 USD.

MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH MARKETPLACE PRICES BEFORE YOU BUY
A great way to do so is to follow up on the "zune retailers"
sizewise the standard 30GB player is rather large in comparison with the comfy 80GB or other players such as the ipod - definitely not a jogging apparel. Nonetheless it can be easily carried around and the size is actually a great advantage when it comes to viewing videos- which are in wonderful quality.
There are 3 ways to listen to music via the zune in your car:
- The standard headphones - I personally find that annoying.
- An FM transmitter which can be easily plugged into car cigarettes lighter adapter - this also isn't my favourite option as I find these transmitters tend not to work smoothly most of the time (I asked around and my friends encountered the same problems). I still would recommend buying such a transmitter as they are rather cheap (about 10USD on eBay) and also function as a charger for the zune + a great and stable stand for the zune.
- If you have an AUX connection on your car stereo (view the example in the picture enclosed) I find this the best option. If you do not already have an aux cable purchase one (for no more than 5USD) - plug your zune to your car stereo and you're good to go.
The zune program is very easy to use and install - take in mind that If you are an international buyer you may not be able to join zune's social online music sharing network. you can check whether your area is active at www.zune.net. (Personally, my area isn't included but I don't find that troubling in any way)
One thing I do find a bit of a hassle is sorting out my music. You will find that If you have music collections on your computer- the zune will automatically sync then into different directories. Don't worry though, with a bit of patience this can be taken care of. what you can do is use free programs such as tagandrename in order to sort out your music. Personally I use these 3 simple steps on the winamp media player in order to sort out my music: 1. file-->play folder 2. go through each song and press ALT+3 (view file info) 3. make sure the name of the album is identical on all files you want to appear under the same album on your zune. I realize this may sound difficult but it's really not that bad and the result is very satisfying.

I enjoy my player very much and certainly recommend buying!
I hope this was of help to you :-)
