Minimum speed 168 miles (270 kilometers) an hour.
Minimum speed 168 miles (270 kilometers) an hour.

The bullet train will make us less dependable on fossil fuel.

Obama’s plan to make America one of the countries with high speed rail is not a new idea, but it’s one of the good ones that need to be resurrected. The idea of having a train that can commute the public to their destination at speed of 320 mph add comfort to the word on time. The fact that we’ve not made any effort to fully implement this idea before, sort of make president Obama looks more like the president of the future. An idea like that should have been supported by private organization. The government should not have been the one to lift it off the ground.

The big puzzle here, is why has the Air line industry not taking the initiative to invest in this plan. Perhaps they have, maybe it’s not yet known, and if not, hopefully they do. After all, it’s much fun to commute by train than to travel by Air Plains. At least with the train you'll get to experienced and observed the outskirt of the country. In the plain, most time you're staring at the clouds. The advantage one gets when traveled by high speed trains will not just be on the visual aspect, the commuter will also save money, they will have an option to choose whether they wish to travel by train or The Air Plains.

The price and distances traveled will be compared with that of the Air plains. And if the arrival time between Air plains and the trains are not that significant, than price differentiation will become a factor for the commuter to consider. The advantage that bullet train provides to our future economy and environment is too obvious to deny. We need to act quickly, because as it is right now, it’s harder to speed up the economy if we’re still traveling in slow motion. With the bullet train at least employees will be able to work 1-3 states away from their homes and not have to pay a bundle to get to work. These trains move so fast that those who conversed within distances of 100 Kilometers must keep their sentences short if they wish to convey their points across, because by the time they're finished with one sentence, they're already 3 kilometers apart.

The new generation would no longer have to worry about not being able to afford the additional tuition for living on campus. With the bullet train, a student who lives in Sacramento and attend school in San Diego, will have the option to go back home for dinner and still get back on time to attend the next class.

It is without a doubt that bullet trains can help provide leverage to our future economy. The advantages that are foreseen for implementing this technology will enable us as a country to be less dependable on fossil fuel. It will create lots of jobs across America. It will caused new and well established business to spread out in developing cities where profit can once again become possible.

According to department of N.C transportation, officials from Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina have released a study that dissected the routes of high speed bullet train servicing south, between Charlotte, N.C., Greenville, S.C., Atlanta, Ga. and Macon, Ga. as an addition of the Washington, D.C. to Charlotte Southeast High Speed Rail corridor (SEHSR). If you're interested in learning more about it, please click on the links above or below for further information.

For the new entrepreneurs, this would be the opportunity of a life time. As you should know, wherever challenges exist, opportunities follows, and for the new entrepreneurs, a developing city would triggered many job creations. The bullet train would be the gateway that connects our cities resources together like the World Wide Web connects our thoughts together. As you can see, Obama didn’t have to tell me to write about this issue for me to know it’s important. Likewise with the high speed rails, what ever happened in one city would affect another directly. In a way, the bullet train will be the connecting links that brings us together as a society.

The $13 billion that the president recently offered is only a down payment to help lift this project off the ground. If this idea were to fully take flight, it would have to attract more investors. This is a winning proposition folks, they is no reason why this plan should rest in our back yards. Any investor, who is interested in long term growth, if understood this plan should pour millions into it. As a result investors would end up benefiting in the long run. This new way of commuting is not only good for the future generation, but would also symbolize a physical change in the country. This proposal laid by the Obama's administration would last for centuries to come. This new railways would be the arteries of our society that would populates our capitals with working class citizens to breath fresh air in cities that are less polluted.

There are those who claimed that investing federal dollars in high-speed rail is a waste of money. The cost of building new train tracks between cities that are not conductive will not only be a challenge, but ineffective. Well, what the Chinese and the blacks are saying is that they have done it before. They've built the American rail roads under the Rockefellers at a time when technology was a primitive idea, so why should we doubt ourselves now is the question? Therefore, if they could have done it then with the new revolutionize technologies that are now available, they should absolutely be able to do a much better job, except this time they expect to get pay a modest wage for that construction.

Nothing is impossible, despite all critics, if the American people want bullets trains as an alternative to other form of transport, they will have bullets trains. All they will have to do is support the president on this plan and together we’ll make it happen. No one is saying that they won’t be challenges ahead, but without challenges no task would worthwhile. And another way, it is better to try than to stay stagnant, because by trying we can learn better way to tackle the project, leaving behind promising opportunities for the next guy who shares the same dream.

The keating.com stated that “The very first electric TGV launched in 1981 was the TGV sud-est, which is the famous orange train. This project was a complete success story, although not getting government backing; this created the most profitable service on SNCF, and paid for itself in just a few years". The Japanese did it, the French did it, the British have done it and us who claimed to be one of the most advance countries have been left behind. They is only one explanation for this and it’s not because we less capable, but only because of competitive rivalries. Those who lobby against this bill are either not looking at the full picture or simply protecting their own interest.

As an employee, if you wish to raise your family in Georgia while working in California it extremely difficult to achieved that with our current system. The price for an air plain ticket plus the time and harassment you faced is totally unpractical even if you had the money. But with the bullet train, all that is within reach, an employee would be able to work in one state while raising their family in another.

This project will help reduce the population of states that are over populated. It will help create more opportunities for those who wish to look for jobs in different states. The advantage of not having to relocate to work in a different state would make opportunities across the country more attractive. New York & California would become less populated, making New York City a little more breathable.

Wind mill that provide electricity would be in great needs. They would also be used to provide electricity to our high speed rails. New bridges would have been created, offering easy access to commercial transportation. As you can see, the advantages that high speed rail provide us is limitless, but what is limiting us though is our unwillingness to come together as citizens to help attract more investors for this plan. Our unwillingness to invest in this project is exactly what’s keeping it from advancing.

Not too long ago, president Obama added $8 billion to the economic stimulus package for the implementation of the high speed rail. Some stated that this is the biggest commitment of its kind ever made by the federal government. Is it worth it? you bet it is - if you thinking forward, you can definitely outline all the opportunities and advantages that this project has to offer. But if you’re one of those pessimistic thinkers, you’ll always find something wrong with this plan no matter how Claire it's explained to you.

For decades now the idea of a high speed train from Southern California to Las Vegas (about 280 miles) went in and out of favor.

Environmental issues always stop progress and that was one of the reasons Las Vegas didn't get the train.

Too bad, because in California with its large population the high speed train would be a terrific alternative to driving or flying.

San Francisco to San Diego about 600 miles has very heavy plane, truck, bus and car travel. It would be even better, if they could have trains that had auto carriers on them, so when you got to your destination you could drive your car there. I seem to remember auto carriers going from NYC to Florida years ago.

BTW, with only $8 billion dollars from Obama, we could probably travel to Mars before a high speed train emerges from the stimulus package.

Nice hub.

Who is going to protect the lines against terrorism?

Who is protecting our current lines now against terrorism? If we're goring to be attack by terrorist, why would high speed railways increase that possibility? Why are our existing lines which are not high speed lines not terrorized? If we were to construct high speed lines and they were attack by terrorist - lots of question would have been escalated, demanding where this terror is coming from. I'm not saying it would not be possible but laying out high speed lines for bullet train should not increase the chance for terrorism. The current administration would have been INVESTIGATING the cause of the terrorist act Domestically and Abroad. And those who are responsible, whether it's Domestic or Abroad would be held responsible. We are much capable of committing terrorism act against ourselves as those abroad who wishes the worst for us -- please keep that in mind.

cool

Where is it that this bullet train will be running?

How long will it take to actually be operational?

What other details do you have on this project?

We have more power than all the governors combine - let us make this dream a reality - let us pressure congress to allow the Obama's administration to contribute more money into this idea.  Let us do it for our young ones. Don't you feel more comfortable when you have alternatives - well then let us get to work?

Cool

Even at the optimistic cost per mile of 8 million dollars the high speed train would have only one thousand miles of track.

More conservative estimates put the cost per mile at 40-80 million per miles with would bring down the miles to 200-100 miles of track.

If this project is done by the government, it will take decades. If it is to be done, it has to be done in a faster time period.

You right Veritas

The government should take a passive approach on this plan. I don’t think the Obama’s administration ever wanted to tackle this project alone – they support the project because of all the advantages and opportunity that are associated with it. This project would put lots of Americans and immigrants back to work.  Beside it will alleviate us from being less dependable of fossil fuel.  you already see in the video these are the reason why Obama wants to stimulate the project.  What we hope though is that other organization can participate by investing in it.  We already have some organizations that wants to uplift this project, we just needs more of them.  In a project like this new railways need to be constructed, if we work to strengthen the old tracks, we’ll be limited as to how fast we can go.  New tracks is much of a better idea, we shouldn’t have new ideas run on old tracks, something is fundamentally wrong with this picture.

I don't understand why the cost per mile has to be so costly. The government needs to look into that, investigate why it's so costly. Find new way to reduce cost to make the project more cost efficient

It is a good idea of Obama administration to introduce bullet trains in most of the places in America restricting the terrorists at the root. Definitely a bold step befitting to Americans is going to step in.
