In 1856, Prince Charles III of Monaco authorizes the opening of a casino in his principality to create financial resources. After an unsuccessful first installation in 1862 in the historic Monaco, a humble building was inaugurated in 1863 at a place called Les Moulins (the "Caves").
Charles III decided to entrust the project to the founder of the casinos most talented of the era, the French Francois Blanc since nicknamed "the magician of Monte-Carlo" which founded the Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco (SBM) which becomes Director and dealer associated with the Prince of Monaco.
In this locality, White founded and the Hotel de Paris in 1864, the casino opens in July 1865, as well as the sumptuous gardens of the Place du Casino (with fountain and palm trees), and finally the prestigious Café Divan in 1868. The completion of the railway Ventimiglia-Nice this year, ensures the prosperity of this new location.
With his talent and its major shareholders, François Blanc succeeded in very little time where its predecessors were ruined. In just three years, the luxury fashion is acquired, Les Moulins gives way to a new neighborhood built from scratch dedicated to the resort and luxury, with its magnificent buildings and villas. Charles Ward III is soon to be renamed in his own honor in 1866 under the name "Monte Carlo" ( "Mount Charles" in Italian).
The casino and real estate speculation of Monte Carlo are quickly the enormous fortunes of the White family and the royal family. Charles III, therefore, decided to formally abolish any lifting of taxes to Monaco.
In 1878, Mary White, the wealthy widow of Francis White (d. 1877), commissioned the architect Charles Garnier building the Monte Carlo Casino and the new sumptuously decorated with luxurious tapestries, paintings and gilt Baroque.
The casino is at the origin of the fortune of Monaco, Charles III and his successors (Albert I, Louis II, Rainier III and Albert II) will increase tenfold in part by speculative real estate transactions, banking and finance. His wondrous annual turnover now accounts for more than a tiny fraction of revenues of the principality and the Grimaldi family.

In 1912, the duke of Morny (founder of Deauville in the 1860s) makes build this casino by the architect Georges Wybo. It was inaugurated on July 11th, 1912. It was restored in baroque style by the architect designer Jacques Garcia in 1988. 

This casino has a wide selection of games (Poker, BlackJack, roulette,...) and in the main room you have a panoramic view of the ocean.

It is an Art Deco building.
