If you're lucky enough to work with a Mac, the perfect simply FTP client is cyberduck (www.cyberduck.ch).
I recommend Filezilla.
I use it in preference to WS-FTP pro, which is a commercial program that I purchased.
Smart FTP is good, and so is Cute FTP.
There are a lot of good FTP programs around - and they all do the same thing - move files backwards and forwards between your computer and a remote computer.
It's just that some have more features, and better user interfaces.
