Last summer, after making a two-day tour in the known destinations in Bohol, when in my life I haven't set my foot yet, me and my friends have decided to try another kind of adventure that just lasted for a day. Actually, we were just boarding on a rented boat for the trip and do the "island-hopping" our way...literally, it was not really island hopping because we just simply spare a few minutes savoring the beauty of the islets and islands that we've passed through on our way to our real destination-Pandanon Island. What we did was just make a stop in every island, take pictures, pose here and there until we get satiated. On one of our stops, we were not really able to dock near the island (Hilutungan island) because, according to our guide, we are not supposed to disturb the fish sanctuary near it...

Anyway, as we reached our final destination, all the heat of the sun and the pained butts were really paid off when we got there. The place was breathtakingly beautiful with its long sand bar and a white sand. It was worth every penny of our adventure. Even on a high sun, since we got there nearly high noon, every one really made a dip in the cool, clear waters. The place is somewhat yet virginal since nothing on its natural beauty has been altered yet. When the tide is high, you will notice that the island was just a small one but as we departed four hours after we arrived, the tide is now getting lower and island seemed everlasting wherein it seemed no end of it. We tried to go on the other side of the island and tried to locate its tail and there we made again another stop and filled our curiosity. We go down from the boat and walk over the sandbar that lengthened the island and there we were mesmerized by the beauty of the sea creatures. There we found different kind of sea species like starfish of different kinds and shapes, seashells, sea urchins and even fossils. We picked some of which, especially the edible ones and then kicked for home.

Appreciating the nature once in a while seemed healthy and helpful in one's being specially after all the stress at work.

By the way, this beautiful place is part of the Philippines' 7,107 islands, particularly in Visayas. This is between Cebu and Bohol.

How to reach the place:

1. One must first arrange a flight to Cebu via the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA). If possible, make an advance bookings for a hotel in Mactan,Cebu (Pandanon island has no facility for an overnight stay yet) for your stay in the entire vacation.

2. From the hotel you stayed on, take a cab/taxi going to Punta Engaño and disembark at the side of Hilton hotel. There, you can take a motorized boat going to Pandanon island.

For your convenience, it is best to hire a boat for this particular trip and to take off earlier than seven o'clock in the morning so that your trip will be maximized. And since your boat is rented or hired, you can choose at what time will you come back to the place you left off.
