The biggest elements of the universe
73
The universe has always fascinated the human being.
To impress you, i'll give a few numbers of the larger bodies found in our universe.
THE LARGEST PLANET IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM:
Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System.
Its diameter is 143,884 miles and has a mass equivalent to more than 300 Earths.
For that reason, this planet has the shortest day of all planets, with just 9 hours and 55 minutes.
THE BIGGEST STAR OF THE UNIVERSE:
Despite the physical difficulties in precisely measuring a distant star, this star is a candidate to be the biggest star discovered so far.
This red supergiant is called the VY Canis Majoris and have a distance from our planet 5000 light-years away.
Its diameter is estimated at 2.5 to 3 million kilometers, or about 1800 to 2100 times greater than the Sun.
LARGEST CONSTELLATION:
Of the 88 constellations knewed, the Hydra (Sea Serpent) is the largest constellation, covering about 3.16% of the entire sky, having at least 68 stars visible to the naked eye.
THE LARGEST COMET:
The largest comet discovered is called the Centaur Chiron in 2060 and was found in May 1977. Has 182 thousand miles in diameter.
LARGEST GALAXY SATELLITE:
Until today, have been discovered satellite galaxies that orbit the Milky Way, but the most recently, was discovered in 2006.
The biggest and brightest satellite galaxy is the Magellanic Cloud, which is about 160,000 light years from the center of the Milky Way.
Its diameter is about 20 thousand light years and has a mass of 10 billion times the mass of the Sun.
LARGEST SPIRAL GALAXY:
Discovered in 1986, Malin 1 is the largest galaxy in the universe by measuring some 650 thousand light years in diameter and is a distance from us of about 1.1 billion light years.
LARGEST FUZZY VIEW OF THE EARTH:
Not visible to the naked eye, most nebulous view of the earth is the giant cloud of molecular hydrogen with the name of Barnard's Arc. It distances from us about 1600 light years and has a diameter of 300 light years. The well-known Orion nebula and the Horsehead are encompassed in this giant nebula.
RIDGE'S LARGEST SOLAR SYSTEM:
The highest peak is discovered on the moon of Saturn and was observed by the spacecraft Cassini-Huygens NASA / ESA in 2004.
It has an altitude above the surface about 20 kilometers and has at least 1300 kilometers long.
THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM:
It is called Olympus Mons and is located on the Planet Mars. This huge mountain is 3 times higher than Mount Everest towering 25 kilometers above the surface.
THE BIGGEST COLLECTION OF GROUPS:
The main asteroid belt contains about 700 thousand to 1.7 million asteroids that have at least 1 kilometer across and thousands of other smaller bodies. It lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and has a mass equivalent to 4% of the Moon, half of the mass occupied by the 4 major asteroids.
