The cheapest/easiest way to buy and maintain your own domain name?
52GoDaddy
The cheapest and easiest way to buy and maintain domain names that I have found is GoDaddy. I have several already, some hosting sites, some redirecting to others. Both are very easy to do. With the current crop of Content Managment Systems out there you don't even need any specialized software like Frontpage or Dreamweaver to make a good looking site quickly. But if you are only refering to domain names themselves, of the 5 different ones that I have used, GoDaddy is the easiest (and cheapest).
If we are talking about web hosting, I would recommend them as well. I have used several other web hosts and have had an overall good experience with GoDaddy.
Hope this helps!

I had an amazing experience with GoDaddy the other day, after I bought a dozen domain names. I got a phone call from their Web Consulting Division, just to see if I had any questions or could make use of their free consulting services.
No sales pitch, nothing like that. Just, *Thanks for your purchase, we're here to answer questions, and if you don't have any right now, here's my email address...email me and we'll make an appointment to talk.* Now, is that amazing?
I must tell you that I am new to all of this, so I never purchased a domain name, and I was not a GoDaddy customer. So I don't believe I got any special treatment.
One other thing, look around on the web for GoDaddy discount codes. I saved $3 on each domain name. Google *godaddy discount* and shop around.
I use a reseller of godaddy and save even more money and still have all of godaddy's services. Allstarnic.com
