What I think

What I like in this method is that it's not a method (!). It's really a parenting style as Daniel Craven likes to say. It's actually all in the title. Honesty is the keyword here in the new relationship you can create with your child using this guide. It's about natural consequences, logic, common sense. The basis is your understanding and ability to create a real, strong relationship which will make your child more responsible, independent too depending on his age. Your child will be pushed to give up his constant bad behavior because he will discover how to be happy without it. I really do think that using small tricks with our kids to prevent them from doing this or that is really a waste of time. It's easy and sometimes works fast but it's definitely not permanent whereas talking to your child in a way that leads him to make a permanent choice in his behavior with your help, is completely different. It lasts. And with a good support like a step-by-step method, it makes it easier for you. I do believe in the value of that effort. You know, if kids see results in their good behavior, why would they change it ? You can teach them the benefits of a good behavior.

Daniel Craven was inspired by what his parents did to resolve his bad behavior problems and his vision really reflects that. He knows how it feels like to be an out-of-control child and what's the best way to make your child want to change with simple but efficient communication tools. Your child will probably be a bit surprised by your new way of talking to him and reacting. Your brand new attitude will bring a new one in your child. I'm sorry to say that we parents often keep the difficult situation going because we expect the change to come from our kids first. Well... that's what I was doing !

This guide is also meant for children diagnosized with ODD, ADD, ADHD because this method is simply about you and your child and how you communicate with each other. Period. Daniel literally tells you what to say and what NOT to say to your child by revealing to you the effects of your words on your child and his step-by-step learning covers a wide range of situations you might be facing every day. The F.A.Q. on the website answers a lot of questions I must say and his ongoing support anytime you need it is really appreciable.

Also, if you don't feel supported by your husband/wife, there's a chapter dealing with this issue, about how you can develop your own relationship with your child. I think that's a good thing Daniel thought about that because I'm afraid it's not an unusual situation. --> Visit the website !

I've learned over the years as well that tricks and games may work in the short term, but honesty and working at relationships is what really pays off.
