Keeping track of your opt-in lists and more

As I've mentioned in my earlier post, I've recently discovered iContact - a site that helps you keep track of, and market effectively to, your subscribers, clients, and opt-in lists. I've been setting up my iContact in the last week, and I've really taken a shine too the iContact Community. It's still in the beta stages, but it has a quarter of a million members and growing every day.

In the iContact Community, you can meet and talk with other members via their content - articles, newsletters, and blog posts that they can post at any time about any subject. On its home page, you can read the top articles - those that have been viewed, voted on and commented on the most. It's a great way to meet new people and even find some resources!

I find it interesting how people use the article feature. Sometimes, they're like blog posts - personal anecdotes, funny stories, or soapbox speeches about the world in general. Other times, they're more straight-forward business blurbs - free offers, closeout sales, and invitations to seminars or conferences.

But the things I like most are when some small business owner writes informative content about things he or she knows best. It's a fascinating look into the passion that people have for their life's work - and you can learn a thing or two, as well!

I know I mentioned this before, but I really enjoy the iContact categories. They're well organized. And, if you're just starting out on iContact and you want to get some ideas for your own marketing campaigns, you can go to your category and see what other people are doing.

Some simply write in the space provided; some use iContact templates; and others go all out with ads, special formatting and multiple features. I'm still in the beginning stages, but seeing what everyone's doing inspires me to push it to the limit!

And, with this being a Web 2.0 world, you can subscribe to any article provider via an RSS feed, talk to other providers in the forums, and use your own published work as a way to rank higher on Google.

The iContact Community is a great way to get a feel for this site before you sign up. You really should poke around and see what you can find - you might be surprised!

And speaking of signing up, another iContact feature I want to learn about is their excellent affiliate program.

Of course, iContact isn't the ony fish in the pond when it comes to email marketing tools. I'll be checking out more sites in the coming weeks, and I'll be sure to keep you informed.

Hi Cindy -

I love iContact but I haven't looked into the community. You make it sound really great so I'm on my way to find you there. Great article. You are always so upbeat and informative.
