Why are survival skills important?

One my ask themselves why they may need to have a basic knowledge of survival skills as well as one may hope to never find the need for them, however when they do become necessary it is always at a time that is unexpected."Survival skills? Who needs em? Nothing like that will ever happen to me."I never go more than a few miles from a main road. Why would I need them? these are some of the comments I have heard when discussing survival with friends and colleagues. Well if you ever.

*Go hiking and camping

*Fish and/or hunt

*Drive remote areas

*Fly a plane or hang glide

*Birdwatch

*Horseback ride

Survival is keeping your focus and clarity in a unfamiliar and sometimes hostile enviroment. It is also determination, being stubborn, and having good moral values and and direction, it is taking action, and being a leader. These factors can be the difference between life and death. And you never can be too sure what may happen on that next elk hunting trip to Wyoming, Everyone can benefit from basic survial skills from children to the elderly, and dont forget that if you live in an area that may be susceptable to earthquakes, fire or flooding then this knowledge is for you and your family.
