The importance of PCI Compliance
52The importance of PCI Compliance
There are many reasons to find out about PCI Compliance, some of them are obvious and some you have probably never even thought of. Many people don’t realize how important it is to at least look into PCI Compliance and find out what it’s all about. Here are a few reasons I have discovered in my research of why it might be important for YOU to become PCI Compliant.
It is mandatory. If you have an online business that accepts any type of credit card information, then you must become PCI Compliant. The PCI Security Standards Council requires you to follow these guidelines in an effort to minimize the chances of credit card fraud.
It increases customer confidences. When your customers go to your website, having a third party verification seal can make the difference on whether that customer decides to make the purchase. When they know that you are taking their security seriously they feel safer and are more likely to put their trust in you.
It improves your credibility. There are many online companies out there who are not credible, and it is important to separate yourself from them, so that customers know that you aren’t going to go out and sell their information. A big way to do that is by becoming PCI Compliant. Your customers need to know that you have a reputable business and that you care about their security.
It secures your customers cardholder information. While it is true that the main reason the credit card companies created the PCI Standards was to protect themselves from credit card fraud, it also protects your customers information from credit card fraud. Even if you are only getting PCI Compliance because you have to, you get the benefit of security for your customers as well, and as we stated before, the more secure your customer feels the more sells for you!
Whether or not you decide to become PCI Compliant, you can at least check it out and that way you can make an educated decision on whether PCI Compliance is right for you.
